Crunchy, chewy, and tasty, these Pupcakes! will wow your pups and make you the most popular Mommy or Daddy to your furbabies.
This past week has been all about getting ready for our trip to Disney. We have been washing clothes, buying necessities, packing, and making lists of everything we will need. One of our items on the checklist was to pay the pet sitter who is coming by to check on our furbabies while we’re gone. We found the most amazing pet sitter who will come by the house twice per day for the entire week for 30 minutes at a time and love on our babies, feed, water, and walk them. She even offered to take pictures and video and check the mail for us…and for such a reasonable price!
Benjamin told me that he was really going to miss our pups so we decided to make them a special treat for while we are gone. I searched the internet for homemade and DIY dog treats and found this recipe for Pupcakes! and I just knew we had to make them. I made a few changes because we have 3 dogs of different ages, but we didn’t veer too far from the original.
What you’ll need:
4 cups Purina® Pro Plan® dry dog food
1 cup Purina Pro Plan wet dog food
1½ cups creamy peanut butter
1½ cups pumpkin, canned
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup canola oil
1 Granny Smith apple
Cupcake pan
Cupcake liners
Bacon strips treats
What you’ll do:
Preheat oven to 350°. Combine Purina Pro Plan dry food and chopped apple (minus the core) into a blender and mix until blended well. Add all other ingredients except bacon strips into the mixture and mix well. I was able to do this with a hand mixer, but you could also do this with your baking mixer.
Scoop the “batter” into the cupcake pan and bake for 35 minutes.
Molly and Abby were very interested to see what we were up to at the table and Molly was happy to clean the mixing bowl for me. I think she enjoyed that first taste because she didn’t let Abby or Bailey get near that bowl until I took it away from her to give them a chance.
Once you let the Pupcakes! cool, add some additional pumpkin as icing and the bacon strips treats as a garnish. Molly was, of course, the first to get a sniff of her new treats.
I would say she really enjoyed her first Pupcakes! and now that I’m on the way to Disney, the pet sitter says that all three of them are loving their special treats.
Of course, I had to go with the best ingredients for my furbabies so I knew what I needed to do once I decided this was the treat for them. During our weekly trip to Tyler, Benjamin and I headed into PetSmart to pick up some Purina Pro Plan dog food for the pups. I was able to find the Savor variety that I knew all my babies would love and that I would be happy with because of the potential benefits because real chicken, beef, lamb, or salmon is the #1 ingredient found in all Purina® Pro Plan® dry formulas. Plus, Purina Pro Plan is the first dry dog food brand to use and be founded on the idea of real meat as the #1 ingredient to help promote total body health. Every high quality ingredient is chosen for a specific purpose. I also love shopping at PetSmart for all our pet needs because there is such a great variety of foods and Benjamin always finds the best toys to pamper our pets.
