With all the holiday parties coming up right now, I thought I would share a favorite holiday recipe of mine. It’s my husband’s cheesecake recipe, but today he’s made an OREO Cheesecake with Nutter Butter Crust. It’s so easy and everyone will love you…I mean, it!
I work in an office where we love to eat. I mean, what office full of women doesn’t love to eat? We look forward to the holidays just so we can all get together and eat a meal. We like to do pot luck with a theme from time to time, but we all have different expertise so sometimes we just go with what we know. I don’t know how to do much so I always delegate my cooking to Howard. He loves to cook for others because he says it makes his heart smile when others enjoy his food. So, this year, at my Christmas party, he decided to make this OREO Cheesecake with Nutter Butter Crust and I just know it’s going to be a hit.
Aren’t the holidays just the perfect time to get together and enjoy each other’s cooking? It seems like it was just time for Thanksgiving and now it’s time for a Christmas party. For Thanksgiving, we did a mexican theme, and Howard decided to make turkey enchiladas. They were such a hit that my office requested a “Howard holiday recipe” for this party as well. That’s all good with me because I’m not great at cooking so he decided that cheesecake was the way to go.
Howard’s cheesecake recipe is so easy and he can add almost any flavor that anyone wants to it and he can make a regular cheesecake and top it with anything as well. I got to pick the flavor for this year’s cheesecake so I picked OREO and Nutter Butter cookies just to see if he could pull it off. I mean, who doesn’t love cookies and creme and peanut butter?
OREO cookies are a timeless treat that go well with any holiday celebration. I like to pick my OREO and Nutter Butter cookies up at Kroger because I can find all the OREO cookie varieties for the holidays. Plus, my stepmom has worked there for like 20 something years and Howard worked there for two years recently until he had his health problems and had to leave. Kroger is our choice for seasonal and everyday shopping in our little town where there’s only two grocery stores and a big retail/grocery store. Kroger has what we need and we’re in and out in a flash.
Now, I mentioned that Howard’s cheesecake recipe is super easy so let me give you the recipe and you can let me know what you think. I hope you find it to be easy as well.
OREO Cheesecake with Nutter Butter Crust
What you’ll need:
1 package OREO cookies
1 package Nutter Butter cookies
5-8oz packages cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/4 cup flour
4 large eggs
What you’ll do:
For the crust, grind up the package of Nutter Butter cookies to a fine consistency. Add melted butter and mix. Press into bottom of 9 inch spring-form pan and about 1 inch up the side. Bake for 10 minutes on 325°.
For the cheesecake, grind OREO cookies to a coarse consistency and set aside. Blend remaining ingredients except flour and eggs until smooth. Add flour and mix until incorporated. Add one egg at a time and mix. Fold in OREO cookie crumbs slowly. Pour into crust and bake for 1 hour 10 minutes on 325°.
