Day 2 – Thankful for Grace Bible Church #CrazyThankful
When I first started blogging, I wrote my family story and how Brookshire’s saved my marriage. Now that I look back on it (and I knew it back then as well), Brookshire’s was just the catalyst that brought us to Grace Bible Church where our marriage, our lives, and our family has grown more than either of us could have imagined. Let me tell you today, on Day Two, why I’m thankful for Grace Bible Church.
November 2, 2015
Howard and I met on May 1, 2007. By June, he was living with me and we were pregnant. We were married on October 6, 2007 and had Benjamin on February 9, 2008. That’s the quick and dirty of our whirlwind romance. It didn’t leave much time for us to actually get to know each other. We were learning about each other while learning how to be parents (by trial and error) and doing quite a bit of growing up at the same time (even though we were in our 30’s).
Around about August 2009, we were in the trenches. We were struggling financially and emotionally and even though we didn’t know it, we were struggling spiritually. Howard was raised Jewish and I was not raised in a church at all. I knew I was Christian (Baptist, possibly), but I was never really a part of a church family.
Then, one day, Howard was invited to Grace Bible Church.
And we went to visit.
The pastor at Grace Bible Church was also raised Jewish so Howard was in good company. We were welcomed with open arms and loved on and prayed over and invited back over and over.
And we kept going.

Benjamin on Dedication Day
Howard and I both accepted Jesus in our hearts and dedicated Benjamin to the church as well. We were both baptized in June 2010 (I think) and last year Benjamin accepted Jesus as well!
But all of this is just the back story to why I’m thankful for Grace Bible Church.
I’m thankful for the people accepting us and welcoming us over and over. I’m thankful for the support, financial, spiritual, emotional, and more. I’m thankful for the smiles we get and the care we feel when we walk through the doors even when we haven’t been to service in several months and haven’t been to a Life Group in over a year. I’m thankful for the Elders who guide Howard to be the leader to our family and to the ladies for accepting me over and over when I attend their groups sporadically.
Most of all, I’m thankful for Grace Bible Church for making my boy say to us yesterday, “I just love church and I can’t stop going there!”.
