Spontaneous Romantic Bedroom Makeover
This spontaneous romantic bedroom makeover, featuring the K-Y® Liquibeads Challenge, has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All stories, photos, and opinions are my own.
So, you might recall that Howard and I are in the middle of a challenge, the kind of challenge that every married (or seriously committed) couple should take from time to time. We are in the middle of the K-Y® Liquibeads Challenge and I’m talking today about our final results and hopefully encouraging you all to take the challenge and see where it leads you!
Last month I admitted to you all that I have become quite the workaholic. I have so many “jobs” now that I stay busy in the morning and night and it’s leaving very little time for play with my son and “play” with my husband. Because my mind is always on the next task on my to-do list (and because even though I hate to admit it, I’m getting older and things just don’t work like they should), I’ve been experiencing dryness during intimate moments. There’s just nothing worse than being (1) in the mood, (2) available for intimate time, and (3) dry in the nether regions.
We’ve been experimenting with the K-Y® Liquibeads for almost a month now and let me just tell you, things are going GREAT! I’ve already told you how easy they are to use and the less mess advantage to them, but let me just tell you how inspired and spontaneous I’ve felt recently. We’ve been having some great intimate time and our playful life is coming back. We’re planning to get Benjamin’s room put back together and start to transition him to his bedroom full time, but in the meantime, I’ve felt so inspired that I gave OUR room a romantic bedroom makeover to help us feel more like we’re in a place of relaxation and a place where we can feel free to be spontaneous at all times!
Now, normally when I think sexy, romantic bedroom, I think red and black lace, butwe have these gray-blue walls and I wasn’t really prepared to paint the walls just before the holidays so I stuck with a blue, yellow, gray, and white theme. I received this wall sticker a while back and it just fit perfect with my new-found spontaneity. Howard and I have been learning to enjoy the little things – like a quickie at lunchtime or a secret smooch while the boy is falling asleep.
I think this artwork is my favorite piece of the whole bedroom because it reminds me that Howard and I are each other’s world and we need to remember to keep our love shining every day. This sign is on my side of the bed so every morning when I wake up, I see it and it makes me smile.
I also added boxes on each of our sides of the bed for our medicines and other odds and ends that we keep by the bed (like our K-Y® Liquibeads that don’t really need to be on display) and I added little baskets to our side tables for other “stuff” that we want more accessible. I couldn’t get the night stands to match our bed frame yet, but that’s on my wish list. I added a fun little clock and some picture frames for our many photos of Benjamin. Then I made over the entire bed with a new bedspread, throw blanket, pillows and shams, and I just couldn’t forget my new obsession – owls – with the little owl pillow that Howard bought for me on a whim. I had so much fun with the whole makeover and it was all on a budget. I think I spent less than $100 on everything because I shopped sales at a resale shop for everything.
On the day that I put it all together, I set up our bed with a new little surprise for Howard to show him that even though the bed was nice and put together, I was ready to mess it up and “break it in” with a little love making in the afternoon before it was time to pick up Benjamin from school. I served him up a new box of K-Y® Liquibeads (yes, we’ve used ALL of the first box already!) and he took the hint quickly. This little tray is now our little secret. If he comes home from work and it’s on the bed…
BROWN CHICKEN BROWN COW!
Y’all, this little challenge has been so much fun and I really hope that you can put yourself to the challenge as well. Try making over your bedroom with a spontaneous romantic bedroom makeover or just serve up some K-Y® Liquibeads and something special on a tray to your SO. Let loose and experience the spontaneity with less mess. We may all be getting older and experiencing “the dryness” but that doesn’t mean that our intimate life has to go down the drain!
Now…I need your advice. There are still some blank walls in my bedroom and you haven’t seen the ugly TV that we are hoping to replace soon.
Super cute bedroom makeover! I love the little owl pillow, and the “hey I’m ready for you” tray on the bed is a fantastic idea! My tell for Kyle (because he usually comes home when I’m already in bed), is if I’m naked or only wearing undies, he knows it’s on. If I’m in bed with long sleeve everything on, he knows that if he tries to touch me, I’ll whack his hand slap off. #client

I like the little additions you made to you bedroom. Very cute!!
I know this isn’t what your post is about (and hurrah for spontaneity) but I have to say your headboard is amazing. It looks nice and sturdy, thick… ours is so thin, I hate it.
You could add a few more of those square art pieces on the walls in a gallery kind of setting? It looks great in there though.

Love the changes! For blank walls, I always hit up a thrift store for old canvases. Then I repaint them and even add vinyl lettering or something kind of calm and abstract.
What a great makeover. We need one in our bedroom, too. And my hubby and I definitely need so more ‘couple’ time.

I think it’s great you took up a challenge for yourselves. It can be so easy to just stick with the status quo, but marriage takes work and attention.

I love what you’ve done! Maybe a little sitting or reading area…but that doesn’t sound very romantic unless you are reading one of those novels.

I think you did a great job already. I love that decal on the wall. I have to makeover my bedroom too into some more romantic for my husband and I.
