Northpole Party for Two Special Friends

When Benjamin was in Kindergarten, he made a very special friend. D and Benjamin sat next to each other the entire year and they were inseparable. Howard and I frequently heard stories about D and how his favorite color was red, he liked sharks and Ninja Turtles, and he talks different than other kids, but Benjamin could understand him. When I would go to school parties, I would hear all about how D and Benjamin were such good buddies and played so well together. D’s mom and I talked a little at these parties and eventually exchanged phone numbers so the boys could get together during Summer. Also, D was going to be moving to another school district (but still close by) so they wouldn’t get a chance to see each other at school, so D’s mom and I promised to keep in touch.

Well, you know how Summer goes and things happen and time just flies by. Before I knew it, we had been so busy during Summer that D and Benjamin just hadn’t had a chance to see each other. I hadn’t called or texted and D’s mom hadn’t either. Then, one day out of the blue, D’s mom found me on Facebook and sent me a message. She said she had changed numbers and lost my number and then had to find me on Facebook because D had been missing Benjamin and they needed to get together. I immediately invited him over to spend the night, but she was a little hesitant so we started with just coming over to play one evening for a few hours.
The boys never skipped a beat and they started playing like they had never been apart. They each had grown taller, but they were best buds again. After that first time that D came over, I knew I needed to do something special for these two friends so I planned a special holiday Northpole Party for them this past weekend.
So, what exactly is a Northpole party? Well, let me explain!
Northpole is a new movie that is coming to the Hallmark channel this holiday season. I was at Walmart when I saw the toys and knew the boys would love them. While I’m excited about the movie, I knew the boys would be just as excited about a book about the Northpole. It came with a “Find Me Santa” snowflake so I had to get an extra one for D and then get the two boys their own Magic Snowballs. I also picked up a new mug for myself because I knew I would need some warm tea while they had their hot cocoa and made the Ninjabread cookies that I picked up. We watched Christmas movies and drank cocoa with marshmallows. We actually didn’t get to the cookies, but we’re planning that for another weekend now. Then the boys told me to go away so they could play and laugh and have a good time without a parent in the room. Ah, boys!
Let me just tell you really quickly about these Find Me Santa snowflakes and the Magic Snowballs. The snowflakes light up and you are supposed to hang them in the window or on the fireplace so Santa can find you no matter where you are on Christmas Eve. They will light for four hours and rotate colors…very pretty! The snowballs light up as well when you throw them. They are such a reasonable price, you could even buy a couple of buckets of them and have a snowball fight in Texas!

The story of the Hallmark movie (and book), Northpole, is one of bringing cheer and happiness back to Christmas. It’s about the elves at the Northpole worrying because the snow has stopped and there was not enough cheer to keep them busy and get Santa on his way on Christmas eve. The world has become too busy and preoccupied with their day to day lives that the cheer is going away. The small elves hatch a plan to bring cheer back to the hustle and bustle going on below the Northpole and they send off their notes to all the homes and hope for the best.
With the Northpole book, you even receive one of the notes from the elves and are encouraged to spread cheer this holiday season. Having this party was a great reminder that sometimes I just need to stop working, stop stressing, and just relax and have fun with my boy and his friend. We are going to make Saturday evenings a weekly thing and start spreading cheer throughout the season and the rest of the year. It’s just so much fun to see two special friends reunited and having so much fun together.
What would you include in your Northpole Party?
All of these items are great! I’d definitely have some sort of delicious dessert to serve at my north pole party.
This is such a great idea! I love that you helped the two friends connect in a fun but easy way! The new items were sure to make it more special, and I’m glad you didn’t leave yourself out either! #client
