Fall Leaves + Messy Boys + Dog Hair Tumbleweeds = An Epic Mess! #EurekaPower

I’m a boy mom, a mom to two fur babies, and I live in a house with a yard full of leaves. I live in my home with an epic mess about 90% of the time. But, once again, this year, I am working my tail off to get this mess under control.
You might remember last December when I revealed to you all that my life is a mess and I have a very messy house. I then tried to clean up a little with my Clean House Advent Calendar…and while I did clean up a little, I didn’t get this place under control. Well, we’ve lived in the house for another year and accumulated a ton more “stuff”. We are a messy family, but it’s time to clean up for good. This year, I’m not going to fool myself into thinking I can clean and post about it every day on the blog, but I’m going to aim for once per week (on Mondays!) and post about what I’ve cleaned throughout the week. My goal for the end of the month is to have every room straightened up, belongings in their place, and clean from ceiling to floor of all dust, dirt, grime, and trash. I’ll take pictures along the way and you’ll see how I’m making progress. I’ll be asking for tips and suggestions for products to use to help me along the way, but today I’m going to tell you how I’ve invested in this project with my newest “toy” to help me get this place cleaned up!
Fall is here and the leaves are everywhere! I live in a rental house where there are no less than three trees in the yard with huge amounts of leaves falling right now. I mean, last night we had a little wind outside and I woke up with a pile of leaves on the porch. Of course, I can’t sweep the porch and rake the leaves every single day so some of those leaves make it into the house. I’m more likely to vacuum than sweep the porch so I need something powerful enough to pick up the leaves quickly and with little effort.
In addition to the leaves, I have two dogs who shed a LOT! I frequently find dog hair tumbleweeds around the house whether it’s winter, fall, spring, or summer. They are equal opportunity shedders. My current vacuum is tiny and will only pick up the leaves and the tumbleweeds if I take the brush off the main container. It’s a pain to take it off and put it back on for the dirt and then find another tumbleweed and have to take it off again. I needed something more powerful that will pick it all up with the smallest amount of effort because you all know that I hate to clean.
Enter the Eureka SuctionSeal 2.0 Rewind! I picked up my Eureka vacuum that is on Rollback from $148.88 to $129 right now. I was so excited to get it home and try it out. I haven’t been this excited about cleaning in a really long time…or ever, really.
This new vacuum has SuctionSeal with plates that raise and lower against the surface maintaining suction and seal without scattering debris, as well as Air Speed technology that uses a wide tube of air with minimal bends and twists that allows air to move freely across a shorter and more direct path. What does that mean for my epic mess? Let me just tell you all about it!
You see, with hardwood floors, it is difficult to find a vacuum that will pick up all the dirt. Most vacuums are either made for carpet or they are tiny little things that are like my current vaccum with the removable brush. With the epic messes that I have to deal with, I have been emptying the canister on that little thing 3-4 times per cleaning session. With the Eureka SuctionSeal 2.0 Rewind, I was able to adjust the height of the brushroll to be level with my floors and not have to worry about missing things as I vacuum.
Of course, my messes are not just on the floor because the dogs use our couch as their personal beds. I usually have large dog hair tumbleweeds on the couch and the floor around the couch. They also tend to find any scrap of paper and tear it up on the couch so the upholstery and stain brush is perfect for my epic mess. Also, since I’ve been hosting a weekly boy get-together on Saturday nights, Benjamin and D have been playing in the living room more. This week they found playdoh and there was pieces of that crap all over the couch and floor and coffee table. I barely had to work to get all the scraps off everything with my new vacuum, it all just came right up with the SuctionSeal and attachments on the new toy!
And finally, when I am ready to finish up and store my vacuum, I don’t have to worry about wrapping that cord around the vacuum because there is an automatic return that works with just a push of a button. I was worried it would snap closed so quickly that it would be dangerous, but it goes at a pace where there is no snap back of the cord and all is good again.

I have wall to wall carpeting——-imagine the mess. I need a vacuum with lots of suction. I am hoping this is the one. I will be checking it out.

I’m glad I saw this. I really need a vacuum that works on regular floors – not just carpet. If it also does a good job on upholstery, well that would just be a big bonus.

I really wish you would stop posting about my house! Yes, the leaf bits and the fur tumbleweeds from our 3 cats, combined with forced air heat = disaster! You definitely need a good vacuum to conquer them.

That was one of the things I hated about our old vacuum, the winding of the cord which nearly always fell off once I thought I had done it so its great that you have that problem solved. We have dog hair trouble too especially with our Border Collie xx

I’ve taken the wet/dry vac out to get leaves. They clogged my hose though, so I went back to sweeping our porch.
This looks awesome! We were just in the market for a new vacuum – wish I had seen this before!

I love that the cord self winds. We vaccum once a week because we have allergies, but we also like in a very dusty area in Arizona. I could dust today and by Tuesday, you’ll see a fresh layer of dust on things. So vacuuming weekly is essential.

Pet hair tumbleweeds! I can’t tell you how often I feel like pulling my hair out because of those darn things! With a 5-cat household, we have a lot of extra fur hanging around the house. I actually have to get on an epic cleaning spree soon so I can put up our Christmas decorations. Eek!
