357.6 – Weekly Weight Loss Update {Fatty Friday}
I did it! I survived the week and it paid off. This week was our first week (back) on the eating plan that is going to save our lives – Healthy Figures. Are you ready for my weekly weight loss update?
We started this week on Friday (9/6) with three days of protein only. I eat about 500-700 calories and Howard eats about 800-1000 calories. We ate briscuit and ribs, fish and chicken, and beef jerky that doesn’t have sugar as a main ingredient in the flavoring. And we slam TONS of water! One day last week Howard even drank 7 liters of water.
I went through my normal two days of a headache from dehydration, all while I was drinking water nonstop. I think it’s all going to be worth it, because…
I lost 12.2 lbs this week!
Howard lost 10.8 lbs! We were so psyched and the people at Healthy Figures were actually cheering for us. We love going there because everyone knows us and they know we can succeed. It’s such a loving, encouraging, and Godly place to visit every week. I can’t wait to go back and see what I can lose in my second week!
By the way, did you see my before pictures at 369.8 lbs and some of the struggles Howard and I have with parenting an active child at our size?
Great job! That’s a ROCKING week! I am just maintaining now…wish I could push off a few more, but that’s okay!
Thanks, Courtney. This week has been rough (and it’s only Tuesday!) so I’m worried about my loss. Oh well, any loss is a good loss for me!
Oh good, Janet! I am so glad that you are going about this with good advice and medical support behind you. When I was going through my own journey to weight loss and health, I did not have good support from family, friends or medical personnel and it was hard for me. I was constantly unwell and experienced many set backs. It took a lot of research and reading for me to find the right way to achieve health and an optimum weight and then the set back of not maintaining it and having to start all over. I know you are motivated for many reasons and that you will succeed! I will be rooting for you and your husband and look forward to reading many more posts on your successes!
Thank you so much! It really means a lot to have support both offline and online. I need all the help I can get!
That is a really big weight loss and I’m sure you are thrilled… I would like to encourage you on your weight loss journey and I don’t want to put any kind of negative spin on anything, but…
You and your husband are going to make yourselves sick and any weight you seem to have lost is going to come crashing back on you fast! I’ve never heard of this Healthy Figures place/group you said is cheering you on. It’s good that you have support and advice from others, but it should be well informed and healthy advice and support. If they suggested that you and your husband maintain nutrition plans that encompass less than a thousand calories a day, they are wrong and crazy! The human body cannot sustain itself for long on so few calories. It will make a person I’ll if carried on for very long. Beyond that, a body will go into starvation mode and the weight will stop coming off.
Yay for you and your husband for trying to improve yourselves and your quality of life. I was very impressed when I read your first post about your journey. Now I’m concerned. Please, be careful though. Try talking with your doctor about what is a healthy weight loss (around two to three pounds a week) and ways to eat healthfully and to exercise to achieve that loss. Yes, two or three pounds a week does not sound as impressive as twelve, but it is healthier and if you are eating and exercising properly, you will be able to maintain the total loss and not have it all come back to you in the long run.
Best of luck to you! I’m positive you can do this in a good way that will keep you healthy and happy for a lifetime!
Thank you so much for your concern and I can see how this seems startling from the snapshot of the plan that I gave. I shouldn’t have been so careless and only posted about a portion of the plan. I am actually monitored by a doctor in this program, as well as nurses each week and my own PCP. I am taking a multi-vitamin and we are given mini-physicals each week. I appreciate your comments and hope you continue to follow along as we get no only smaller, but healthier as well!
That is an AWESOME first week! Great job to both of you! I bet that big loss really inspires you to keep going. I’m proud of you!
Thank you, Maggie! I know that this is a big week because of water coming off and all that jazz, but it is definitely a motivator to keep going. My typical weight loss will probably even out to about 2-3 lbs per week, but slow and steady and maybe it will stay off this time!
