How to be a Super Cool Mom to a Super Cool Boy
*Welcome to a new series here on Going Crazy! Wanna Go? called How to be a Super Cool Mom to a Super Cool Boy! This first post in the series is sponsored by Mom Central Consulting for Orbit for Kids. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating*
There are a lot of things that I do for my boy that make him happy. We giggle and play and every night is like a big slumber party with him. We like to go to the park and to the indoor playscape. We like to dance and sing and cuddle and hug. We are a fun couple of people, dare I say “cool”. Some things I do, I do for fun and I enjoy them and some I do specifically to be a Super Cool Mom.
My boy is just such a sweetheart and I just love to hear him say, “Mommy, I think I just love you so much”. {heart melt} So, if you’re a boy mom like me and you want to be super cool, start with these few tips and let me know how it goes! Then, stick around for more tips!
Encourage him to play in the mud
My boy is not one that likes to get dirty. I’m not sure where this came from because before he would walk, he would “army crawl” everywhere, including my dad’s backyard. That boy would have dirt from head to toe and we ruined more outfits by letting him crawl through the dirt. Sometime after he started walking, though, he decided that dirty was just not his thing. I’m a boy mom and a Super Cool Mom would always allow a Super Cool Boy to play in the mud so I have to encourage him.
Our dogs dug this big hole by the back patio so I filled it with water and had to TEACH this boy how to play in the mud. He wasn’t convinced until I got my hands in and then put a little mud on my face…and a smudge or two on his leg. Eventually he dug in and I praised him as much as I could!
Learn all about WWE Wrestling
In order to be a Super Cool Mom to a Super Cool (wrestling fan) boy like mine, you will need to do your homework on WWE Wrestling. You’ll need to watch RAW (on Monday), Main Event (on Wednesday), Smackdown (on Friday), and Saturday Morning Slam. You’ll need to read articles online from places like WWE.com and Bleacher Report. You could watch Totally Divas on Sundays, but I’m still on the fence about that one (meaning I accidentally missed the first episode this week…oops!). You will definitely need to know the current champions.
Here’s a headstart:
- John Cena – WWE champion
- Alberto DelRio – World Heavyweight champion
- Curtis Axel – Intercontinental champion
- Dean Ambrose – US champion
- Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins – Tag Team champions
- AJ Lee – Divas champion
- Randy Orton/Damion Sandow – Money in the Bank winners (they get to challenge any champion at any time with their MITB contracts)
Supplement his dental care routine with Orbit® for Kids sugarfree gum
Now that my boy is getting older (and he has some older influences from summer camp) he has become more curious about certain things. One of those happens to be chewing gum. One day as we were walking out of the YMCA, one of the counselors gave him a piece of gum and suddenly my boy was telling me how he can chew gum and blow bubbles…all because he has seen others chew and make bubbles…
You can bet that I was crowned #1 Super Cool Mom when this package arrived at the door!
One of the things I struggle with most for my boy is getting him to consistently practice good oral care. We have tried brush after brush after toothpaste. Things work sometimes and other times we are still fighting to get in a full two minutes of brushing. That is why I didn’t hesitate to let my boy try out Orbit for Kids.
The benefits of chewing sugarfree gum, like Orbit® for Kids, include cleaning the mouth of food debris and stimulation of saliva flow, which helps to protect teeth by reducing plaque acids and strengthening teeth. By using Orbit® for Kids gum as a complement to brushing, flossing and rinsing with mouthwash, parents have another simple and fun option to help protect kids’ teeth.
We received that package you see above a few weeks ago and my boy was so excited. There were actually three packs of gum, but the first one disappeared before I could take a picture. This new sugarfree gum comes in Original Bubble Gum and Strawberry Banana flavor and has been awarded the ADA Seal of Acceptance (that’s big stuff!). In fact, that Strawberry Banana is so tempting that it has become a family favorite for on-the-go when we don’t have time to brush in the middle of the day. It’s like having a healthier dessert option always at our fingertips!
Great tip about letting them play in the mud. I think kids should play and get dirty. That’s half the fun of being a kid. I have bought Orbit gum before. I just didn’t know they make a gum just for kids now. i will have to look for it. The Strawberry Banana sounds good. I might just steal a piece for myself.
I have two boys who are 16 and 23 now and I wish this had been around when they were younger. I love the playing the the mud encouragement!
