That Crazy Man I Love {and raising a boy to be a man}
Our boy is out of town for the week with my older sister and her family. He is spending a lot of time with his Uncle Don during the day and we have been getting tons of pictures throughout the days. While it is nice to have some quiet time to be alone, we still miss him, but this has been a good time for Hubby and me to enjoy each other’s company and check back in with each other on our friendship and companionship.
Hubby and I were watching a show last night where a dad was having a custom truck made for his 16 year old son for his birthday. He wanted it to be a surprise, but he wasn’t holding anything back when it came to planning the perfect truck. At one point he told the guys that his son was his best friend and that brought tears to my eyes. I asked Hubby if our son was his best friend and he said “yeah, well you are, but I hope he will always be…”. Good save there, huh?! I hope that Hubby and our boy continue to have a great relationship through the years as our boy gets older. I think that we are taking the right steps to help that develop, but I also know that things are not in our hands.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week were rough for Hubby in terms of work. He struggles with his own work ethic being high and that of others being low. If you are a hard worker, or have ever worked in a retail position, you may know the feeling. The hard workers get dumped on and the slackers get the easy road. This was never more evident than this week when Tuesday he observed one of his coworkers sleeping on the job and then Wednesday he was called in on his day off to clean up the mess. Wednesday had the potential for being a bad day.
I asked on my personal Facebook page for prayers for Hubby, just because, to help encourage him and to help him remember that he doesn’t work for the boss at the store or the director of the store, but he works for God, and he works for himself, and he works for the customers who love to see him every single day.
With the help of my brother-in-law, my boy sent his daddy four text messages on Wednesday morning…
{okay, so I had to make a collage from the pics and then draw in the letters so you can see them, but OMG…did you have to grab a tissue, too?!}
Why I Love My Husband {and raising a boy to be a man}
Now for more of my never-ending list…
56. He is a hard worker for God, for his family, for himself, and for his customers. That just about says it all. This is how he lives his life.
57. He teaches our boy to be like ^^^that^^^.
58. He seeks confidence and guidance from the Bible. He has recognized that this situation at work is fueling his anger and impatience and he is working through Bible studies on his phone to help him.
59. He is my best friend. Sometimes I may come in as a close second to our boy, sometimes not, but either way is great with me!
60. He is leading our family in the right direction. Remember #55 on my list? I didn’t give him enough credit last week because as I reflect on these reasons this week, I know that he is leading our family…no doubt about it.
I’m building this never-ending list every Thursday (even though they moved the linky to Monday) with the Happy Wives Club. Sometimes, it will be mushy and sometimes it will be hilarious, but it will always be true.
Love that you updated #55 on your list. And that you had some “alone time” with your hubby to check in on your friendship. What an important time for you both. Makes me think you’ll have an even longer Why I Love My Husband list next week :). Maybe next Monday I’ll add to my own list on the Link Up :).

It is so great that your husband and you get to spend some quality time together. I know you miss your little man a lot. My husband has to deal with the same thing. He works in a warehouse but his job depends on people doing their job so he can do his part.
