How to Personalize your Cubicle: more cubicle decorating ideas
{from an Interior Designer!}
Working in an office setting, one tends to spend most of their time either next to the coffee machine or water cooler, or sitting within their cubicle. With all the time spent in a cubicle, many people like to add personal touches to make the time spent there less monotonous. When I had a cubicle that I spent 40 hours a week in, I put up pictures that were important to me—ones that got me focusing on my time spent away from work. I was planning on a long trip overseas, so I personalized my cubicle with a little map and pictures of my destinations. When I was feeling like I was going no where with my work assignments, I would glance over at my trip pictures and feel motivated again.
There may be rules for what is and isn’t allowed—like maybe you are only allowed to post up certain types of things on your cubicle walls. If there aren’t rules, maybe there are standards. Take for instance this picture of a decked-out cubicle from the web-series The Guild:
The usual type of cubicle for working at ‘The Game’, is fantasy-style, so anything less would seem out-of-place.
Embrace the inevitable
Post-It Notes, phone lists, to-do-lists, these things will inevitably find their way on to your cubicle walls. To keep things organized, and looking tidy, create a place for your paper items—a cork board, magnetic board or similar. Make things more fun and personalized by using your favorite color(s) of Post-It Notes, pens and paper clips. Use fun containers for your extra staples, writing instruments, and stack of blank notes. Will it be raining cats and dogs?
The most common pictures I see in cubicles are of people’s cats and dogs. It’s so sweet and great to have pictures of what is most important to you—pets, family members, even flowers or nature views. Whatever you choose to put up on the walls of your cubicle, keep it simple and organized. It’s not necessary to cover up every square inch of your walls. Show your personality, but be aware of the image of yourself you’re portraying at the same time. What do you want your co-workers to know about you life, and ultimately your work ethic?
Do you have a cubicle where you work?

I spend 9 hrs a day in my cubicle. I have to get a lot of things done there, such as exercise, reading, lunching, and shifting papers. I like to make my space as comfy as possible. I have my stretch bands, toys (Transformers, kaleidescopes, etc.), and all necessary comforts. I’ll take any ideas to make things better – and more organized. THANKS!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some inspiration. My cubicle still needs a lot of work, but it’s a work in progress!
My cubicle is covered in … oh wait, I don’t have one! Squeeeee!

I am pointing at you with a finger. Guess which one, haha!! You may not have to decorate a cubicle, but I hear that you can seduce a man with a fancy table…
We do cubicle {and office} decorating contests at work. Sometimes they get too intense, with allegations of cheating!! if you can believe that!

Oh, I believe it! I think that is why we skipped decorating at Christmas this year.
I never had a cubicle, though I did have a desk. I didn’t like to put anything personal up…I always felt it attracted unwanted attention. When I did bring stuff in I felt like people would touch it when I wasn’t there. Yes, I was the anti-social germaphobe.

Aww…I don’t have a lot of decoration, but I like to look at pictures of my family occasionally. I don’t decorate much at home either.
