Crazy Crafts for Kids {paper cutting}
Family life has been a little hectic around here lately with the boy’s birthday and Valentine’s Day. This week was particularly stressful with the bullying issues and we are all taking turns being sick. The boy has a runny nose and allergies and even had a low-grade fever two days after daycare. However, even when we’re sick and stressed and tired, we are always up for some Crazy Crafts for Kids. This week, we are making it simple, but it happens to be my boy’s absolute FAVORITE craft – paper cutting!
Crazy Crafts for Kids: Paper Cutting
As I mentioned, my boy loves to cut paper. He cuts it into these tiny pieces and sometimes comes across a shape. A pack of construction paper becomes many hours and days of crafts for just a few dollars. You’ll also need some kid-friendly scissors and either tape or glue to piece it all back together. Of course, markers and crayons or specialty tape always adds a little extra flare. When your child discovers a shape, encourage and praise him, or you can introduce new shapes as they cut randomly.
We had some glue sticks, crafting tape, and some sparkly glitter glue to decorate with for this craft.
This was the first creation and he decided it was for Daddy. Since it only took a few minutes, we kept going and then we had to make something for Granny and Papa and Aunt B.
Inspired by his Dude SpongeBob shirt, the boy asked me to draw a cowboy hat for him to cut. He started out strong and knew he could cut it, but then he gave up so I helped him finish.
He was quite proud of the cowboy hat and said it was going to be for Papa. This is his silliness and he told me that I had to take a picture of it.
Most of his cutting on this one was related to the tape. I held the roll and pulled out a little tape and he would cut it off. We were not done until there was tape around the entire hat.
Paper cutting is such a fun craft and honestly this boy would do paper cutting every single day if I allowed him.
I love the hat! So cute, and he looks so proud!

I really need to get my son some safety scissors, I know he’d love cutting paper into tiny little pieces.
Right now, our go to craft is painting. My son paints on canvases (which I purchase on sale at Michael’s!) and we hang them on his art wall in his room. Another fun activity is glueing pom poms onto plain paper.
