Help them Thrive! Big Orange Tub of Hygiene Products for Kids
Help them Thrive!
Hygiene Products for Kids
Dial Into Giving – Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service Project #DialCFK #CBias
So, last month my boy and I donated a BIG GREEN TUB of books to the Palestine YMCA and this month we couldn't resist the tub again. Have you seen the BIG ORANGE TUB that I talked about last week? Have you heard about my goal to fill that BIG ORANGE TUB with hygiene products for kids to donate to the Sanctuary House? Want to know how things turned out?!!
Finding those in need
Sanctuary House in Palestine, TX
Most of the homeless in our East Texas area are women, left with small to school age children, no transportation and no money. We also have homeless who are disabled and some are elderly. Each night, in America, 800,000 men, women and children sleep in our streets, abandoned cars and buildings or in shelters. The greatest increase in the homeless population is in the rural areas of our country.

I mentioned in my first post that the Sanctuary House may be closing down and I have learned some more information since then. As of now, they do not have the funds to stay open after October 2012. They are praying and are hoping to get the word out about their needs. If you are a prayer warrior, please pray for the Sanctuary House. If you feel called upon to help, please visit the link above for more information on how to help.
This news, though worrisome, has not slowed down our donation drive. We have announced it to our church, Grace Bible Church, and the BIG ORANGE TUB is on the way to being filled. We have decided that we are going to collect hygiene products throughout the month and fill you all in on the details as we go along. Each week I will post pics of the bucket as it fills and at the end of the month I hope to show you a full tub!!

The Boy is really excited to see how much we have gathered after only one week in the church lobby. Of course, he wanted to show off some of the products and ham it up for the camera. I love to see his giving heart get so excited!!

This is a great idea. We take so much for granted and dont think of those who may not have soap and shampoo to use when needed. When you get small bottles of shampoo or soap when traveling from the hotels donate them to the homeless shelters. Involving the children in this is good. It helps them learn to care about other peoples need and the share with others.
i think it’s a great thing you’re doing and i think it’s so good that your kids are involved with it as well

My dad was living in hotels for work for months at a time and for some reason took the shampoo/qtips/soap every day. When he finally came home, he had a huge bag of this stuff. We obviously didn’t need it so my mother donated them to go in kits for Katrina victims. They were the perfect size.

I think it’s great when a family can help others. You are teaching your children a lesson.
We love that we are able to give back now!
Wow. It’s crazy what we take for granted, isn’t it!? Thanks for giving me some perspective today. And I will definitely be praying for Sanctuary House and the people they serve!
Thank you for the prayers!!
