Back to School Tips {Fruit & Yogurt Smoothies}
My boy is not quite ready for Back to School, but we are definitely taking notes right now from all the expert moms out there! Although he would love to be heading to Kindergarten this year, he is just as excited to see some of his friends starting Pre-K and Kindergarten. He is also excited to be moving up to the last daycare class before his big day!
Top Five Tips for Back to School
Tip #1 – Start a morning routine.
Tip #2 – Start shopping early for school supplies and clothing.
Tip #3 – Start the bedtime routine.
Tip #4 – Visit the school and introduce your child to the teacher(s).
Tip #5 – Talk to your child about his/her excitement and worries.
The Boy and I shopped a while back for Back to School supplies to give to his friend and his favorite teacher and since then he has been excited about school. We have started a morning routine and earlier bedtime routine. We have done a little bit of Back to School clothes shopping. We talk about riding the school bus and going to school. My boy is itching to go!
Although my boy is not going to school just yet, he still comes home from daycare everyday with a little hunger and usually needs a snack before Daddy can get dinner ready. He and I have both been wanting a smoothie {or snooovie, as he would say} so I’m going to surprise him today!
After School #SmartSnack with DelMonte Fruit Cups!
I had a little time alone this afternoon and decided to run by Walmart before picking up my boy from daycare. I needed to get a few things for dinner and I wanted to surprise The Boy with the supplies to make a “snooovie” {otherwise known as a smoothie}. I knew I wanted to start with Del Monte Fruit Cups because they are so handy for afternoon snacks so just in case our smoothies didn’t work out, we would have the fruit cups on hand. The Boy and I love these so much that they don’t last long in the house normally.
I came across these Diced Peaches in light syrup with Cinnamon & Brown Sugar from Del Monte. This looks so yummy, but I decided to wait on them for today because I wasn’t sure if my boy would like them. If he likes the Diced Peaches and Diced Pears, then we will try these next!
Hubby is making burgers and fries for dinner so I picked up a few groceries that he needed, the ingredients for our smoothies, and a special cup for my boy to use for his after school – Back to School – smoothies. You can see more of my trip in my Walmart shopping for Back to School #SmartSnack Google Album.
The Boy helped make the smoothies by pouring in Diced Peaches, plain yogurt, and ice. I blended it with my new Ninja blender and we had Peach Smoothies! Are you wondering if my boy liked them?!!
You betcha!! We may have put a little too much yogurt in for our first batch because he got a little sour face and shook. He giggled and said, “Mommy, my snooovie makes me shake!” and then did a little dance.
With my Ninja blender, I have a whole pitcher of smoothies waiting in the fridge for every day after school! In fact, when we were headed to bed tonight, he said he wanted another smoothie for breakfast. I love my healthy boy who loves his Del Monte Diced Peach & Yogurt Smoothie!!

Smoothies are a favorite around our house too! My son loves bananas, which he calls monkey fruit. Makes sense to me, since you always see monkeys with bananas.

We love smoothies and I never though to use fruit cups! That definitely makes things just a bit easier and opens up a world of flavors!
