Tools for Back to School with Boys and Girls Club of America
When I was a caseworker with Child Protective Services I was often assigned the task of finding resources for kids and families. One of my favorite resources in the community was always the Boys and Girls Club. I didn’t know about the Club when I was young, but the more I learned the more it became my number one place to talk with families about joining.
I have always assumed that these clubs were for “at-risk” or “low income” families, but now I know that the Boys and Girls Club is for kids and families of all ages socioeconomic stages! This opens so many doors for families looking for Back to School resources and a safe and caring environment for their children.
Boys and Girls Clubs of America: Tools for Back to School
Whether your children have started school already or you are in the last phases of preparing for Back to School, I have some great new tools to share with you from Boys and Girls Club of America!!
Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) and Disney have partnered to launch the Tools for Back to School initiative. This initiative features a pop-quiz style game, where supplies are donated to BGCA for every correct answer you score.
You all know that my boy is not quite ready for school yet (next year, yikes!) but we are definitely taking notes this year so we are fully prepared. These tips from Boys and Girls Club are great for parents of kids of all ages. BGCA offers different educational content and tip sheets for parents to download and utilize.
You can find them on the left hand side of the BGCA site under the Get Ready header.
jcp cares
As part of our commitment, in August we’re supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of America and 4-H, two after-school programs that help inspire and empower kids. From coast to coast, these programs provide America’s youth opportunities to grow in a wide range of areas through meaningful relationships with adult volunteers, learning experiences and unique programs.
In my small town, the only Department store we had available to shop for Back to School was JCPenney. We didn’t have a lot of money so sometimes the only time we would visit JCPenney was during Back to School. I often only associate that red logo with shopping for Back to School so it only seems fitting (in my mind at least) that BGCA has partnered with JCPenney. In August you can join jcp cares and round up your purchase at the register to benefit BGCA.
