Johnson’s Baby Cares help Save the Children {You’re Doing OK, Mom!}

As a work outside the home mother, and a busy blogger, I am always worried that I am not living up to my own high expectations as a mother. I don’t spend as much time with my boy as I would like and sometimes that time is spent being tired or fighting over bath time or bedtime. I want what’s best for my boy and my family (which is why I work so hard) but I wonder if I’m doing MY best.
I was thinking about this past Mother’s Day when my boy was away with his Granny in Colorado. I was exhausted and slept a lot that day, but my husband just let me sleep and we had a relaxing day. My boy was gone for an entire week and when he returned I was able to go to the airport to pick him up. We talked on the way to the airport about whether he missed us. We wondered if he would run to us when he got off the airplane and whether he would run to me, Daddy, or even Papa.
He ran to ME!!!
“You’re Doing Ok, Mom!”
Johnson’s Baby Cares is seeking to tell Moms everywhere how we are doing in this short video. It’s one minute and three seconds and it’s such a strong message that I’m planning to bookmark it and use it as a daily affirmation. Like a sticky note on the bathroom mirror, this video could lift any mom’s spirits every morning!!
JOHNSON’S® BABY CARES & SAVE THE CHILDREN
Johnson’s Baby Cares is donating JOHNSON’S® Baby “Care Kits stocked with baby essentials (lotions, washes, shampoos, diaper creams, etc.) to Save the Children who will distribute them to families in disaster stricken situations.
This past week was one year from the devastating tornadoes in Joplin, MO and we are heading into tornado season in Texas. We are also hearing about wildfires starting at the beginning of this summer and it just brings to mind all of the devastation that can happen around us. What would you do if devastation hit you right now? My family does not have reserves for replenishing what we own at the moment. We have family support, but everyone is nearby so what would we do if devastation hit us all?

Johnson’s will donate an additional $50,000 to Save the Children when they achieve 500,000 views on their “Happy Mother’s Day, Mom – You’re Doing OK” video.
Johnson’s knows that during times of devastation the small moments between Moms and their babies can strengthen spirits and make smiles happen. Working in Child Protection for as long as I have, I have seen that smiles and support during times of devastation can be the most effective way to heal a family.

How do you lift your spirits when your thoughts are leading in the direction of “how am I doing as Mom”?

Sure thang, lady!!
The tornado in Joplin was a tragedy. There was a girl that I worked with that was a new mother. She lived on the 3rd story of her apartment building. She was up there with her baby when the sirens went off. She was only able to grab her phone and her baby before she KNEW that she she had to run down the stairs. She ran to the ground floor and could hear the tornado when she decided all that she could do was hide underneath the outdoor stairwell.
She held onto everything as the apartment was torn apart around her. She lost everything that day, but managed to survive and so did her little one. A kit like this would be so helpful to any mom in a situation like hers.

What a beautiful video! I think it’s normal for Moms to sometimes question how they are doing. I miss the time when my kids were that size! They are grown with lives of their own and I still wonder if I’m doing ok, then I get a phone call and I know I’m ok!
I love what Johnson’s & Johnson’s is doing. I have always liked that company and their products and this just affirms my thoughts!

What a beautiful video!! I watched it twice! I don’t have my own children yet but it bought a tear to my eye just with happiness that organisations such as Johnson and Johnson go to so much effort for the little people in the world. I can only hope that when the time comes when I have children of my own, that I’ll do the best I can for them and will be able to look back and know it was truly the best life, love and support I could have provided them.

LOVE this video! It always makes me cry. I also love the Johnson & Johnson ad that says “You always went for the tall, dark and handsome type so who would have thought the love of your life would be short and bald”. So true!
