What is your Family Story?
According to Wikipedia, a blog is a "personal journal" published online, usually the work of an individual or a group of individuals, and centered around a theme. Today's blogging became popular in the 1990s and "evolved from the online diary" and people (usually mothers) began keeping a publicized narrative of their personal lives. Why do you blog?
In 2007, I began a blog for the purpose of chronicling my life for my family. I had been away at college for several years, but had been home and around my family so much that they always knew what was going on with me. At this time, I had started graduate school and was so busy with work and school and finally building my own life that they didn't know what I was up to. I could publish my latest activities and they could keep track of me. It didn't last long when I became busy with school, met my husband, got pregnant, lost my mom, got married, and moved back to my hometown. I like going back to that old blog and reading my thoughts, although brief, and how things changed so quickly in my life during those few months.
This time around my blog started for different reasons, but one of the first things I wanted to do was begin to write my Family Story for everyone to read. I did so over a course of several weeks and when my husband began to read what I was writing, he had some answers and even gave me a guest post to publish (he still owes me the rest of that story!).
I read a LOT of blogs. I've become friends with a lot of bloggers and I love nothing more than reading a good Family Story!!
I met Josia from Evolution Parenting in a blogging group and I was thrilled when I found that she had written not only her Family Story, but her Own Story as well. It's a beautiful, humorous, and triumphant story and I would highly recommend you take the time and read through it. I think you will be inspired, not matter your situation.
So, to all the bloggers, and aspiring bloggers, out there, take the time to write your story. Even if you think it is simple, "normal", or too involved to put it out there. Write what you are comfortable with sharing and put it out there for all to see. You never know who you might inspire.
Have you written your family story? Leave me a link in the comments and I would LOVE to read it!!
Love the story

Not sure what I would write. Do you mean the story of your past? I don’t think I want to go there. I did have a blog to update family about my kids at one point but they stay up to date with facebook now so its old and neglected.

I have a family blog separate from my “work” blog that does not get the love and attention it needs. Thanks for giving me the motivation to post something on it!

Wow! What a great idea! I’ve written tidbits here and there, but nothing long and really a story. This is on my to do list now, thanks!

I started blogging to document the lives of our family as we started having kids. I started as soon as I found out I was pregnant with our son and have been writing ever since. Real, personal stories are the best to continue reading!
