What are the Benefits of Country Clubs?
When I think of Country Clubs, I have several memories that are food related. Weird, huh? Most people probably think of golf or socializing or parties, but nope, just food for me…
Growing up I lived just behind a Country Club, but mostly I just saw the woods behind the club. If I went down into the woods (yeah, I did that often) then I could watch the golfers play, but I wasn't all that interested. My family never had a membership to the club, but we had some friends who did and I was invited a few times to go with them to go swimming.
The first time the four kids went to the pool alone we were told it was okay to get some snacks on the friend's club bill…and then we were left there all day. I don't really know what all we ate, but we swam a lot, we were hungry, and we were given the go-ahead to eat for free. I bet you can see where things are headed. I think our bill that day was upwards of $50 or so and needless to say we didn't get that free pass to eat ever again!!
My only other experience with a Country Club was when Hubby and I decided to move back to my hometown after we got married and were about to have a baby. Hubby was a chef and was having a hard enough time trying to find a job in Austin so when he suggested we move back to my small town I told him that it was not a good idea to move back unless he had a job lined up (my small town is hard on restaurants). He looked online and saw a club in Tyler was looking for a sous chef, he applied, and was hired very quickly!! I very rarely went in the club, but I got to hear about all the parties and the great food the clubbers ate. Occasionally, he was able to bring something home as leftovers and it was yummy stuff!!
I am participating in a blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog for Florida Country Clubs and was compensated. However, the views and opinions are my own.
