Fatty Friday Bummer – 298.2
Who gained weight during the Holidays?!!
Is your New Year’s Resolution to lose weight, get healthy, feel better, be more active…all of the above?!!
Yeah, me too!!
I’m making my journey of weight loss public in hopes that the accountability will help me and talking about the struggle of addiction to food will help others!!
Since Hubby and I did so well last week and lost weight, we were even more motivated to continue on the right track and made it through the Christmas Holiday without going WAY overboard. On Christmas Eve, we gathered at my dad’s and he had given us the heads up that we were just ordering pizza so Hubby cooked a turkey for us to take. We did decide that we would enjoy any “goodies” that were there in moderation – and we did – but that was the only day during the week that we allowed ourselves any wiggle room.
We both have been feeling really great and are noticing changes in how our clothes are fitting better. Our son keeps offering us his leftover candy or pudding or bread or whatever…and we have begun telling him that the doctor is helping us make our tummies smaller so we can play with him more. He loves that idea!! Thankfully, he keeps saying that he needs to eat more to make his tummy and himself bigger and be strong (I’m so worried all the time that he’s going to have some type of eating disorder because of us…ugh). We told him this morning that if he has a good day today (and no potty accidents) that we would go walk at the football field (his favorite exercise) and he’s pretty psyched about that!!
So, I figure you’re wondering about the “Bummer” part…
I gained 0.8lbs this week!!
Hubby gained 0.2!!
I’m at 298.2, but I’m okay with it. Usually, during the Holidays, I would have gained MUCH more so I’ll take it and just lose it next week.
The nurses at the center usually get concerned with us when we have a gain or several weeks of plateau because we were so wildly successful when this first started so we talked about it a little. We told them about the “cheat day” (Hubby calls it a “cheat 3 hours :)) and they figure that as well as my bloating (yes, it’s THAT time) as well as our bodies just adjusting to the shock from last week are probably the cause.
I also had a review item come this week that we tried that may have caused a little of it. It’s a low-calorie ice cream, but is higher in carbs than something we are “allowed” with this eating plan. That could account for some of it.
No worries, though!!
We’ll just keep at it and I’ll hopefully be back down next week when I write this again!!
The Fatty Friday linky is about weight struggles, weight loss success and support, getting healthier, or whatever you feel would “fit” with these topics. You do not have to post something new on Friday, just link to something weight loss or fitness related that you posted during the week. I know several bloggers are in the NSNation and that would be a great post to link up. Maybe you are just needing some encouragement on a weight loss or fitness issue…link it up!! Maybe you have a weight loss related giveaway (lets keep those limited and specific to weight loss or fitness) but go for it!! Link up!!
The linky will stay open all week and will reset on Friday morning!!
If you know me at all, you know I don’t like rules so just do what you think it right and then go visit a few of the others and see what they have to say as well.
Leave a comment of encouragement…and don’t forget to encourage me!! I’m a sweets-aholic!!

Chin up! Weight loss is so hard and you are doing really well, especially with it being the holidays. I hate the scales, I usually use measurements as the scales go up as I gain muscle.
Happy new year and I look forward to sharing weight loss stories with you in the new year.
Thanks so much!! Hubby and I do notice a difference in our clothes even though the scale didn’t agree.
I think a small gain during the holidays is more than acceptable! Great job!
Thanks, Lady!! I plan to take it off this week!!
What a great post – and I'm already a member of the FB group – YAY us!
Thanks for sharing, Janet! Very brave.
Thanks, Greta!! It keeps me accountable.
I'm sorry for the setback but I think that's really good for the holiday week. I hope next week you've lost that and more!
Thanks, Maggie!! It was disappointing at first and then I felt sad that I had to come disappoint you all who were so supportive last week.
