Featured Newbie

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
God has blessed me with being the oldest of two – I have a sister who is a year and a half younger than me. Some people say we look like twins, some people say that we don’t even look anything alike. My parents are wonderful. My mom’s side is Italian and my dad’s Ukraine. I have a large family from my mom – lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins! I’ve been blessed with such an amazing family. Currently, I work as a gym manager of Anytime Fitness, along with doing work for Baby Pickel (we help single moms and families in need through answering everyone’s baby shower wishes), and freelance work of graphic design and monitoring company’s social networks.
Do you have more than one blog? If so, tell me about them!
The only blog I have is First Day of My Life – for now! I plan to change that in the near future. However, I do play a large part in writing for the Baby Pickel Blog. We blog about all of the moms we have helped, all of the ways God has touched our lives…our journey of life!
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for Baby Pickel for over a year. For First Day of My Life, only for a few months now…the end of June is when I started!
Why did you start blogging? Is this also why you continue blogging?
I started blogging because I enjoyed blogging so much for Baby Pickel. I met some very nice bloggers through that journey (and continue to do so!) but wanted to start being more personal. I wanted to have the freedom to let my creativity flow – I can only do so much on Baby Pickel…have to keep it professional! Not that it isn’t professional on First Day of My Life – but it is more “fun” I guess you could say.
Who does your blog appeal to? Is this who you thought would be your target audience?
My blog seems to appeal to many people! Not just women, but I have a couple of male blog readers too! There are quite a few moms who read it – and I’m not even a mom! It honors me so much! I do have a great deal of ladies in their 20’s who read it – which is who I thought would be the majority of readers. I’m honored that so many different “types” of people are reading and following! It seems that if someone is looking for a positive outlook on life and some happy thoughts – they find great comfort in blog. No point in being anything but positive! Life is too short!
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I see my blog on the incline…it will keep going, going, and going! Like I’ve said before, I’m blessed with a multitude of readers. In reading their blogs, I have found ways to make mine more interesting, intriguing, and some topic ideas! I see nothing but great things for my blog! Maybe one day you’ll see it on one of those commercials – “I’m Cami from First Day of My Life and I approve this message.” Haha! Just kidding. No – but really – big things are coming! God has blessed me so much…I know he wants me to share it with the world.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
Keeping things unique and interesting! I don’t want my readers to be bored. “Oh boy, another one of these posts from this girl.” I don’t want that at all. I try to be humorous now and then to mix it up – hope it comes out as so!
What do you love about blogging?
Connecting with so many people! I’ve met so many wonderful ladies (and men!) from blogging. It’s so interesting getting to know others – what they do on a daily basis, the life challenges that they face. It’s also great to connect with someone who might be struggling in a certain way, just as you do. It gives me great comfort knowing that I have people to turn to – free of judgment. (Just to clarify – I have many friends who won’t judge me…but it’s always great having multiple thoughts on a certain topic…multiple ways to think about something.)
What do you NOT love about blogging?
Deadlines! I try to make sure I have a new blog up every morning (excluding Sundays…sometimes Saturdays too). With all I have going on in life, it sometimes becomes a task to make sure I have a new blog up every day. I do try though!
What types of product reviews and giveaways do you feature?
I have yet to do any product reviews. I would love to, though! I think it would be so fun! The giveaways that I feature run from devotionals to beautiful graphic-design posters. Anything and all in between! In the next couple of days, I will have a new giveaway up, too! I’m very excited about it!
What was your favorite product to review?
What product would you like me to review…maybe yours will be my favorite?
What advice do you have for those wanting to get into this or up the value of their giveaways?
Be up for anything! I think if you are an “approachable blogger,” people will come to you.
Besides your blog, how else can people find you?
So far, the only other way people can find me is twitter! @firstdayofmylif
I only recently “caved” and started tweeting! I do enjoy tweeting so far…from what I know of it.

Do you have any bloggers that you consider to be mentors?
I can’t say that I do. I kind of came into blogging with a basis from Baby Pickel of knowing what to do and knowing some “blog secrets”
Do you have a weekly, daily, or monthly Blog Hop or Meme that people should join in? Tell me about it and share an info link.
Once a week on Tuesdays, I have Tasty Tuesday! I ask others to link up recipes – whether it be their favorite or a new recipe. Join me for Tasty Tuesday!
How do you find time to blog?
I can’t say that I “find” the time – I make the time. It’s the only way you can do it! It might be first thing in the morning, right when I come home from work, or even at work. (Shhh! Don’t tell!;))
What else would you like us to know?
The best way to get out of a slump in life is to be a blessing to someone else…make their day easier! And then you know what? You can blog about it! Just be yourself when blogging…God made you perfect just the way you are, no reason to embellish!
What is your best advice for a Newbie Blogger?
I think that responding to comments made to your blog is very important. It makes your readers (and the ones you left the comment to) realize that you care. It helps build a relationship with your reader. Also, commenting on other’s blogs (especially those who leave you comments!) – it helps a lot! Don’t get too crazy trying to build content…just write about things you are currently going through. Be genuine and transparent – those are big things! Be sure to add as many photos as you can, too! That really helps add a sense of someone getting to know you. I don’t know everything…I’m still trying to “find my way” but as long as I keep meeting wonderful bloggers, I’ll be okay.
I want to wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!
LOVE Y’ALL!!!
