Back To Beauty Blog Carnival **Giveaway Today ONLY!!
I mentioned earlier that I feel like a busy bee lately with all of my excitement with the blog, the Newbie Hop, and Fatty Friday, along with running after a spoiled 3 year old, and working full time. Where do all of the hours in the day go?!!
The Boy is reaching an age where he’s going to start participating in sports and other activities. Hubby has mentioned football and t-ball and possibly soccer. The Boy loves music so we’ve thought about music lessons. I would love to see him in gymnastics!
This event was inspired by the upcoming release (9/16) of the movie
I Don’t Know How She Does It starring Sarah Jessica Parker!!
For years, I’ve watched my older sister with her two children and all of their activities. She and her husband have run themselves ragged, participating on boards and getting the kids involved, volunteering at church and other events. I’ve often wondered how she does it. There are times when she is one place, her husband is another, and possibly some wonderful friend was transporting one of their children to another!!
How do we, as Moms, handle all of this? How do we organize our lives and our family’s lives and still maintain our sanity? Whether you work outside the home, inside the home, homeschool, or are a SAHM, you’ve probably run into a moment where you just weren’t sure how it was all going to get done.
I’m a worrier. I’m a thinker. I’m a caregiver and a people pleaser. I’m also very easily stressed. I’m not really sure why that is, but it’s true. I lie awake at night and think about money and bills and relationships and work and The Boy and Hubby and my family and my friends and cleaning that should be done and and and…
Eversave surveyed more than 700 mothers to find out how they “do it all”. 90 percent of us lie awake at night thinking about our ever-growing to-do lists. Do you worry about these things?
- Money stress (Uh, YEAH!!) – 71%
- Worry about children (yep!) – 53%
- Finding time for spouse (oh boy, yes!!) – 45%
- Preparing meals/managing the household (uh-huh) – 33%
I am blessed to have a husband who has the time and desire to do most of the household tasks on his off days during the week when The Boy and I are away at daycare and work. I try (sometimes) to help out in the evening and on the weekends, but I’m usually consumed with playing, comforting, or bathing The Boy.
I personally haven’t ever written a to-do list, probably because it scares the daylight out of me, but I always have a mental to-do list going. The moms who were surveyed said they never finish their to-do lists, but here are some tricks they use to attempt it:
- Stuff clutter into closets or dirty dishes into the oven before guests come over (done the clutter, but mainly we just don’t have guests over
) – 66%
- Serve their children fast food more than once per week (oh, done that!) – 58%
- Give in to a child’s temper tantrum in order to save time (have you read my spoiled child post?!!) – 47%
- Let children dress in mismatched clothes to get to school/work on time (rubber boots make it to daycare sometimes
) – 38%
Thankfully, moms tend to make their children a priority. Sixty percent of working moms and 76% of stay-at-home moms find the time to tuck their children in bed at night. Forty-nine percent of working moms and 56% of stay-at-home moms attend school functions.
I haven’t been staying awake at night worrying as much lately because now I fill that thinking time with blogging… I stay up late at night blogging, networking, reading, click click clicking… It keeps my mind off all the other stressors around me, but then creates more for my To-Do List (in my mind at least).
Thankfully, I have a wonderful, supportive husband and son who loves to laugh and be silly and occasionally they grab me and we have family time. (The Boy has actually started coming up to the laptop and just closing it )
When I think about “me time” I honestly think about blogging because I love that I have this support network and all of my new friends and I really feel like this is my escape. But if I’m honest with myself, I need to spend more time relaxing and pampering myself. Of course, taking that time (and the expense) feels selfish!!
In support of all the moms who “do it all”, Eversave is sponsoring a special Back-to-Beauty promotion TODAY, including deals from all of the local markets so we can all save money and enjoy some of that special “me time”.
