Downs…and the Oh-So-Good Ups!!
I feel like I’ve had a rough week already. It’s only Tuesday and I’m exhausted.
**Sorry, I have to talk about “it”**
My period was acting funny last week so Hubby and I thought possibly I was pregnant…no such luck.
I wonder if we aren’t getting too anxious about it and I’m making myself have weird symptoms…
Now, it’s really heavy and painful and I go from freezing to sweating, which makes my body wet so the fans make me freeze…ugh
I’m still feeling a little down, but I have these bursts of energy where I am being silly and playing with The Boy so at least he’s been in a good mood and not so whiny lately.
I made the mistake of looking back at some pictures at work today (I work for Child Protective Services…) to find out the status of a case…and now I can’t get the images out of my head. I hate when I do that!
I’m ready for the heat to go away.
BooHoo!! What a pity party I’m throwing for me today…I’m probably just tired!
On the other hand, I do have some good news to share…and Week 3 of My family’s story…Enjoy!!
If you missed them, here are Week One and Week Two.
Last week, we left off with me basically giving Hubby an ultimatum. Like I said, not my proudest moment, but I had no idea what I was going to do if he did not get steady employment and help support this family we had started.
We told each other in the beginning that we believed in working together to make this marriage work, but I felt like I might be doing this alone. I had to think about this little person (The Boy) who relied on us for all of his needs.
Hubby had convinced me to give him the weekend and he would make this right. I was not convinced, but what could it really hurt at this point?
I honestly don’t know what all he did that weekend, but by Sunday…he was a meat clerk at Brookshires!!!
Hubby has told me bits and pieces of what he said to the Market Manager and the Store Director that weekend, but I wasn’t there so I don’t know. Basically, he told them that if they didn’t give him a job, his marriage was over. Of course, this makes me wonder what those two men thought of me the first few times they met me, but eh…water under the bridge…
This was July 2008.
During the next year, Hubby and I rocked along, slowly learning about each other (remember we’ve only known each other for a little over a year now) and falling deeper in love with each other, The Boy, and living the life of a new little family.
Of course my dad (who lives about two miles away) was cautiously watching to make sure that Hubby was going to stand up and be a provider for our family. It took a lot to build that trust back up…my family was not going to just take my word for it that Hubby was sticking to it this time. While they were gracious enough to hold their tongues and not talk to me about their concerns, Hubby and I could sense that they were watching.
Hubby said to me one day that he would know he was back in Dad’s good graces when there was Pepsi Max in the fridge when we visited on our weekly Sunday dinner visit. (Just a side note: Hubby is extremely addicted to Pepsi Max and if you don’t know about it, it’s like this super powered diet soda “for men” – imagine the Home Improvement bark here -)
Well, I don’t remember exactly when it happened, but there was a Sunday…and there was Pepsi Max…and things were definitely looking up again!! Dad began hearing around town that there was this great chef who works in the meat market at Brookshires and he’s such a good man and a people person and knows about meat and can sell you all the ingredients you need to make a great meal and tell you how to cook it…and so on…
Sometime in the Summer of 2009, Hubby was talking to my dad on a Sunday and mentioned that a lady came into the store and talked to him for almost an hour about the Bible and God and Jesus and invited him to church. (Okay, another side note: If you haven’t read This is Me!!, Hubby was raised Jewish and did not believe in Jesus the Messiah at this time) I heard him saying this across the room and asked him if he was interested in going to church. Before this time, I was not interested (alright, our religious backgrounds will come up in a later post, I promise!!) but something about the way he was talking made me curious. He said, “why not” so a couple of weeks later, we were visiting Grace Bible Church in an old abandoned elementary school.
Hubby remembered something about a pot luck lunch so we brought a store-bought cake. He didn’t know anything about the people so I bought a new skirt and shirt and we went dressed in our “Sunday best”…
This was August 2009.
Have you ever come across a time in your life when you just didn’t think that things were going to get any better, you’ve reached the point where you think you are going to put your foot down and that’s the final word, only to have your life changed in a way that you never dreamed? Is there one thing, person, place, or event that you can give some credit to for that change?

I remember when I was preggo that I would go from hot to cold to hot again – and it was so miserable! I am so sorry that you are having a rough week already! Hopefully it will get better soon!

So sorry to hear about the tough week! And I love that you’re telling your story in parts!
Thanks so much!! Thanks for stopping by…
It’s actually been pretty fun to write each week and remember it all. I’m trying to talk Hubby into writing a “guest post” for the week after I finish…to tell it all from his perspective!!
Sorry you are having a rough week!
I want the next part.
