Day 12 – Why I Blog
Do you want to know why I blog? Believe me, sometimes I wonder this myself. It’s a lot of work, but it’s a labor of love. I love sharing my family with you and I love writing about my passions. I love sharing our family fun and our recipes from time to time. But, why did I start blogging, what does blogging do for me, and what keeps me blogging? These are the things I’m thankful for today.
Around about June or July 2011, Howard and I began watching this show (you might have heard about) called Extreme Couponing. We were instantly intrigued (mostly because we were broke) and I began researching couponing online. I discovered these blogs that talked about how to coupon and how to save money and I started following them and we started couponing and saving money.
After a couple of months, I was following several blogs and learning about blogging in general and by August 2011, I had my own blog started just for me to talk about my family. I didn’t have any thoughts of being a coupon blog or a savings blog, but just a blog to talk about my family and see if I enjoyed it, hence the name Going Crazy! Wanna Go?.
I never knew it would turn into the reason why I blog today.
After a few months of “playing around” and blogging about my family story and a few just fun posts, I realized there was a world of review/giveaway blogs out there and I felt like I fit in there. I began reviewing products and hosting giveaways and wow…what a whirlwind that world can be!
I couldn’t keep up.
I guess I kind of fell into sponsored posts after a while and I found a little passion of mine – sharing about my family using products, not in a review-type post, but rather in a storytelling way. I love nothing more than being contacted by a product and asked to write my family story around that product that I’m probably already using in my home!
Then, I realized I had a gift.
My gift is talking about my depression and anxiety. I have a stream of consciousness style of writing that rambles on, but is so open and honest, that people respond to it.
This I am thankful for today.
Of course, I can’t write about why I blog without mentioning the friends I’ve made, the connections I’ve made, the money I make for my family, the opportunities I have on a weekly basis (I’m not good enough yet to say daily basis). For all of these things, I am thankful.
But, most of all, I am thankful for an outlet for my words and my thoughts and my stories and my ramblings…and for you all for sticking around and listening to it all and reading my words. Thank you!
Join me on my journey to write 30 days of thankfulness in the month of November for NaBloPoMo and follow my hashtag – #CrazyThankful – to find out what I’m thankful for this month and all year long!
I love your blog and your thankfulness. I’m slowly transforming my blog. Honestly not sure where I want it to be yet! But it’s a work in progress! I think we evolve for sure and the reasons we start definitely keep us going <3 LifeAsLex

I love reading about the reason why someone started their blog. Great blog!
I blog mostly because I like to share information with others. I started my personal blog without caring about making any connections, which has greatly changed now. Mingling with other bloggers had truly enriched the journey (and my life).

I love reading about your family so I am glad you started blogging. When I was pregnant the mommy blogs were the ones I got most of my information from so I have been following them ever since.

A friend I met online convinced me I needed a blog–she went so far as to actually set it up for me! It was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to read and review books and charities. Finally after about 4 years I think I am there. Yes, I do still do one or two product reviews and a LOT of giveaways–but what keeps me going is the books!
