Thanksgiving Printable Activities {word search, crossword puzzle, matching game}
Thanksgiving Day is right around the corner and your littles are going to need something to do on Thanksgiving Day when the grown-ups are watching football and sleeping off that turkey dinner. So, of course, I made you some free Thanksgiving Printable Activities, including a word search, crossword puzzle, and a matching game!
What are your Thanksgiving Day traditions? For me, it starts bright and early when I head over to my dad’s house to make Monkey Bread. I should really share my recipe with you all this year. It’s so easy and it’s a hit with the crowd in our family. Once the bread is in the oven, I’m usually watching the parade and/or looking at Black Friday ads with my sisters. Eventually, I have to start working on the fruit salad, but I usually have help with that or my sisters are at least sitting at the table with me and talking to me while I cut up all the fruits.
For the past couple of years, I’ve been able to help my dad in the kitchen (he used to not allow visitors in the kitchen) because he had knee surgery and needs the extra help. If he doesn’t have anything for me to do, I just visit with my sisters and watch TV until dinner is ready to set up and eat.
My dad has the entire family, including extended family, over for dinner. There’s usually about 20-30 people at the kitchen table, a large table in the living room, and on various chairs and couches throughout the house. My nephew usually says grace and we chow down. You know, my dad starts at least a week ahead of time cooking for this meal. He works non-stop on Wednesday and Thursday to cook the meal…and then it’s over in less than 30 minutes. But, it is oh-so-good and oh-so-worth it! He loves feeding his family and we love eating it!
The rest of Thursday is usually spent napping or looking through ads for Black Friday. We visit with extended family and usually someone ends up going to see a movie or heading out to Walmart for something we need. Sometimes we will play board games, but mostly we’re just watching football all day.
Thursday night, my sisters and nieces head out to Walmart in our town for a little quick, frantic shopping. I know, I know, we want to be the ones to boycott “Black Thursday”, but it’s too tempting! Then, we are early to bed so we can be early to rise and head out to Tyler for some marathon Black Friday shopping! This is our Sisterpalooza shopping spree and we always shop until we drop.
All of this is fine and dandy for my sisters and me, but the kids…they get bored. This year, I’m going to have some Thanksgiving printable activities for them to play and keep them busy, even if just for a little while.
