Day 28 – Thankful for My Boys
I know I’ve already said I was thankful for my husband and my son in other posts, but I just can’t say it enough. I am thankful for my boys and the joy they bring me every single day.
This is one of my favorite photos of my boys on a shopping trip. I think I was shopping for a blog post, actually, but it just shows you my loves and their happiness together.
Yesterday, I told you about how I spend Black Friday with my sisters all day, but I failed to mention what my boys were doing while I was out shopping. My husband is amazing and he occupied our boy all day with a movie and other fun activities. They went to see The Good Dinosaur and then went to an event in town where Benjamin was able to ride a camel and a pony and then feed llamas and look at monkeys, tigers, and kangaroos. These boys are good buds and they have a blast together. It warms my heart to know they spent the day together enjoying each other’s company and hopefully missing Mommy.
I know they say that daddies don’t “babysit” their own children, they take care of their own children. Howard has never thought anything of taking care of Benjamin on my Sisterpalooza get-togethers. He loves to hang out with our boy and they really do miss me.
There’s just something about a daddy and his son. My boys love to play sports and they have been going outside lately to play basketball or go to the soccer fields to practice kicking. They love to play games together and do puzzles and about every other weekend (sometimes every weekend) I get a nap while they hang out together.
While I definitely love spending time as a family, and I love hanging out with my boy sometimes as well, I just love to see and hear them hanging out. They make a great pair.
As I recover from my shopping spree from yesterday, I just can’t help but think about how much I am thankful for my boys and their special relationship.

Good to hear how awesome your husband is. I learned a long time ago that being a great dad is not about holding the baby right and doing everything the way mom does, it’s about being involved, responsive, engaged parent. It’s about being there every step of the way.
