2018 Word of the Year

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and you’re ready for “real life” to kick back in. I know I’m ready for my routine to settle down. My boy has one more week of holiday break and I have today and tomorrow off from work, but then it’s back to business and getting our life back on track…in so many ways! I’ve decided on a 2018 word of the year and I’m going to share with you all how I came to this word and what it means for me.

Last year’s word of the year was CONFIDENCE and I cannot say enough about how I have grown in confidence in the past 12 months. I have more confidence in my work and my health and my family life. I speak up (at least a little more than before) when I want something or need something. I have claimed my status as an athlete and a #workoutwarrior on Instagram and Facebook. My ability to inspire has grown and this has been a huge boost in my confidence. For the first time in my 40 years, I feel confident more and more every day!

So, I asked on Facebook for suggestions for a word of the year for 2018 and here are the suggestions I received:

Inspiring (Inspirational)

Jantastic (love this one!)

Which one rang a bell with me the most? Which one would I choose to dedicate a year of my life to? How would I find the CONFIDENCE to choose any one of these words to define my 2018?

My 2018 Word of the Year is CONSISTENCY!

I’ve decided that what I need most in my life in the new year is consistency. I can be all of the things above, but if I’m not consistent then it doesn’t make an impact. And that’s what I want my life to be about – making an impact!

I will be more consistent in my healthy eating (cutting out sweets first).

I will be more consistent in my water intake.

I will remain consistent in my workouts and running.

I will be more consistent in spending time with my family and being present in the moment.

I will be more consistent about posting on this blog.

I will be more consistent in cleaning my house.

Not to sound too cheesy, but consistency IS key and I can improve so many aspects of my life by practicing consistency every day.

What’s your 2018 word of the year?

I don’t have a word yet! but I’m thinking it’s going to be something like FOCUS. I’ve just not been focused at all the past year and I want to change that!

oh! by the way just jumping in your blog for the first time, followed you from the FFTFL thread with blog links!

Great word! I need more focus in my life as well. I have so many different types of goals (half marathon, getting pregnant with my 2nd child, losing weight) that I sometimes get lost in all the details. Thanks for stopping by!

My 2018 word is BALANCE. I figure I have to maintain boundaries and not give anything too much or too little of myself (or myself too much or too little of something – food, water, etc), or I’ll wind up in a bad place.
