Take a look at that sweet, sweet boy and his innocent little face. He is the light of my life, my one true love, and he has the ability to get my blood boiling faster than anyone in this world. While I’m sure it’s evident from reading my blog, following my Facebook statuses, and just knowing me in general, that I love this boy more than life itself, he can get under my skin and I lose my mind! It’s an ugly truth that I’m not proud of, but I’m a yeller. I grit my teeth and yell and grab his face and yell and sometimes I even have to storm away outside and yell at the wall. I don’t like it and I’m setting a goal right now for 2015 to stop yelling this year.
You know, there are tons of resources out on the internet and in books to tell me how to stop yelling this year and I’ve read them all. I know that it takes patience and understanding. It takes me conforming to some of his ways and him conforming to some of mine. It’s going to take a little effort on his part and a LOT of effort on my part. I’m ready for the challenge and as soon as I feel like he’s ready to listen, I’m going to introduce this new me to him so he can get in on the deal-making part as well.
In order for me to be truly ready for this, I’m going to have to feel good. So many times, he gets under my skin because I’m not taking good care of myself. I’m not feeling good or something is hurting, I’m too tired from not sleeping well, or I’ve been lazy and I’m running late for something. Things have to change in my own mind, body, and spirit for me to be emotionally prepared for this undertaking.
This week I headed out to see what I could find to start this journey of feeling better so I can stop yelling this year. I picked up some 24 hour Immune Support Ester-C to support my health and ensure my immune system is supported. The last thing I need during this journey is an unsupported immune system. I’ve heard quite a few good things about Ester-C and I’m just happy to know that this will provide around the clock immune system support so I don’t have to remember to take it more than once a day.
Along with having a supported immune system, I also have to be sure to drink water and exercise so that my body is feeling good. I am going to start eating right again to lose some weight and feel better. I’m going to sleep when it’s bedtime and wake up earlier so there’s no rushing in the morning. I’m going to remember that my boy likes to take his time in the morning or when we have to go somewhere so I’ll plan ahead and give us extra time to mosey on out the door at a slower pace.
My boy is not getting any younger and the memories he’s making are the ones that will stick with him for the rest of his life. I don’t want those memories to be of a mommy who is frustrated and angry all the time. I need to get my act together for this little man and starting with a supported immune system will help. Next up, he and I will have a little planning to do. I’m going to make a chart for myself with goals to stop yelling this year and make some deals with Benjamin to help keep me on track. I’ll post it all as we go along and keep you updated on my progress!

I started on the EsterC too and I feel like it’s making a difference. Good luck with your goal!
What a cutie! My little guy is my world too, but he sure knows how to push my buttons. I started taking a Vitamin C supplement, and within a week I was able to think before yelling. I just felt better, and it really helped my mood. I am glad it is helping for you too
Wishing you much success with your personal goals for 2015. we all have things we need to work on.
These pictures are adorable! I love your resolution too. I hope you can continue to keep it. Thanks for the post!

When being a mom, it’s hard to not yell. What a great goal to make for the year though!
I have taken Ester-C before when I felt like I was getting sick. Your boy is so handsome!

I think it’s wonderful you’re looking at the root causes of the behavior you’re trying to change. There are lots of behaviors I’d like to replace myself, but I need to reflect on why I do them first!

Okay, he is adorable! lol On a more serious note, I know absolutely wheree you’re coming frum.
This a great new year’s resolution. I can be a yeller too! Its so hard sometimes with my two kids because both of them know how to push my buttons just right. I hate that side of me as well. I got the advice of another blogger out there who pins paper hearts in places that screaming matches tend to take place. For example if the yelling starts when you are putting your coats and jackets on at the door, put a paper heart right there on the door as a reminder to calm down. I have a paper heart on a bulletin board, on my fridge and on my bathroom mirror. Good luck and just know you are not the only parent out there that looses their temper from time to time.

One thing you might try is anytime you think you are about to yell is to turn around and take 3 or 4 really deep breaths-concentrate on calming down–then turn around and discuss with your son what really made you angry. He may not always realize what he has done–and when he realizes he can not get a rise out of you eventually he will stop (hopefully).
