Not a Sparkly Jewelry Kind of Girl
I am very particular about my jewelry. Just ask Howard; he’s bought me several watches and other jewelry that I never wear. When I think of jewelry for my hands, I need something small, but not dainty, something sturdy, but not manly, and something beautiful, but not gaudy. I’m just not a sparkly jewelry kind of girl. When it comes to watches, I’m even more particular. Before Benjamin was born, I always wore a watch, but when I went into labor (yes, six years ago) I took off my watch and never put it back on. I don’t know why, but I just haven’t consistently worn a watch since then. I may have finally found the solution with this JORD wood watch.
Just so you know, I did receive this wood watch for review. No monetary compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
As you may have noticed, I haven’t been reviewing products quite as much on the blog for the past year, but occasionally I do get an email from a company asking me to review their products. I don’t say yes very often, but I was intrigued by this wood watch idea so I said yes and they sent me the Ely (Maple) Wood Watch. When it came in the mail, Howard rolled his eyes because he knows how I am about watches and jewelry and he just knew that I would never wear it. But, I have to say I love it and although I don’t plan to wear it every day, I do plan to wear it because it just fits my personality perfectly.
First of all, this watch is extremely lightweight and just the perfect balance between a dainty (read: breakable) watch and a manly (read: large) watch. The band and face are made from wood and only the clasp and inside workings are not. It’s an interesting timepiece, to say the least. Because it is made from real wood, no wood watch is the same so this is a unique timepiece made for anyone in your family.
JORD watches are made from all-natural wood. A fresh approach to an age-old accessory. JORD watches are designed to take people back to nature and away form today’s metal & rubber. We want to challenge the norm by making unique time pieces as a focal point for everyday fashion. Our wood watches are one of a kind, premium quality time pieces, hand-crafted with sustainable materials from all over the world.
One of the things that I worry about when wearing a watch is the clasp opening up and losing it. This is probably why I don’t want to wear something dainty or too large. But I don’t think I have to worry too much with this watch because of the way this clasp is made. In order to open it, you squeeze the two side buttons and pop it open. This clasp is not too difficult to open, but it also won’t pop open on its own.
With minimal metal on the wood watch, it is extremely lightweight and almost unnoticeable on my arm (even after not wearing a watch for six years). I am on the computer all day for work and typing emails and reports and not once has it been in my way of the keyboard. This is a big deal for me!
March is a big month for birthdays in my family and May is right around the corner (think Graduation) so gift giving is on my mind a lot right now. I think this wood watch would make a perfect gift for a man, woman, teenager, graduate…anyone really. There is a wood watch that would fit everyone’s personality. Take a look for yourself and see if you can find one that you like or that a special someone in your family would love.
LOL I also am not a sparkly kinda jewelry girl, I prefer plain and simple and I think that these JORD watches are just beautiful, they have so many designs, colors and styles, I love the Ely in cherry. I think I got on your I’m going crazy train, cause I have been there lately. LOL wood you have a wonderful day and I wood like to continue to read your blogs, got to get up and get to gathering wood, cold in here.. lol
When I saw this watch, I immediately thought of my 21 yr. old son. He is such an earthy kinda young man. he is not in the least bit, flashy. What a perfect watch for him.
Thanks for the review but just wondering, how well does it keep time? Is the battery long lasting and easily replaceable?
It keeps time just fine, but I honestly haven’t had it long enough to know how long the battery lasts. When/if it stops anytime soon, I’ll let you know!
Oh my gosh…yes Janet…I am gealous. I’m just like you – about the not being a sparkly jewelry type of girl. I have my wedding band and my eternity ring – both in white gold – both very simple…and I’m just happy with that – but that watch – OH MY GOSH – I want it!!!!
Psst – if they’re looking for someone else to review their watches, I’m in!!!
Happy Friday – Hope you have a great weekend planned!
