WWE supports Hire Heroes USA {Twitter Party Alert} #WWEmoms
You all should know by now that my family is completely addicted to WWE and the social good campaigns they support. This post is a part of the #WWEmoms campaign with The Online Mom and I’m helping to spread the word about the WWE and Hire Heroes. You know I’m a huge supporter so my opinions and stories are my own.
The WWE has always been huge supporters of the military personnel and does whatever it can to lift the spirits of those who are stationed overseas and away from home. You’ve seen the shows and the many superstars that travel for the tour and now they are taking that support to the next level with the support of Hire Heroes.
Hire Heroes is an Alpharetta, Ga., based organization committed to serving our nation’s veterans through personalized and customized job search training and assistance. To support Hire Heroes USA’s mission, WWE will make a donation and utilize all its assets, including TV broadcasts, live events, digital and social media to generate awareness and raise funds. In addition, Hire Heroes USA will partner with WWE to implement a veterans hiring initiative and enhance WWE’s military hiring practices.
My Papa was a veteran and I can imagine that he may have been a fan of the WWE at one time. He was a fun man and although gentle in nature, he enjoyed watching a good battle on TV. I don’t know for a fact that he watched wrestling, but I think he would have been a fan.
With a narrowly tailored mission and a personal approach to each unemployed or transitioning veteran and spouse, Hire Heroes USA has helped more than 600 veterans find employment in the past two years. In 2012 almost 2,000 new veterans registered for Hire Heroes USA assistance and nearly 400 more were helped at two-day workshops focused on providing assistance to wounded, ill, or injured service members.
The United States Department of Labor estimates that the military discharges 160,000 active service members and 110,000 Reserve and National Guard members annually. Statistically, about 32,000 of those veterans will join the ranks of nearly 1 million veterans already unemployed.
