TURBO (review, coloring pages, activities)
This weekend, we took the boy to see TURBO and he was so excited. He has some of the TURBO toys and he was most excited to see more about “Skidmark” because of his name.
Here is our review:
Turbo is a garden snail who has big dreams of being fast. He watches video tapes of the Indy 500 in a garage at night and his brother begs him to give up his dreams and just fit in. His job in the garden is to get rid of the over-ripe tomatoes, but he is so distracted by stopping a tomato to race it, that he is often laughed at by his peers.
Turbo gets a taste of his own reality when he tries to rescue the perfect tomato from an oncoming lawnmower, only to be almost run over himself. But then it happens. He is sucked into a race car, doused in nitrous oxide, and becomes the fastest snail in the world. When he meets Tito from Dos Bros Tacos, he dreams start to come true as someone finally starts to believe in Turbo’s dreams.
The boy really liked to see how fast the snails were moving and the tricks they could do with their tricked out shells. He loved the music (so did we, by the way) as it was hip hop and rap and was fun. His favorite part was the Indy 500 and cheering for Turbo.
Hubby and I loved that there was just a little bit of adult humor, but not enough to make even a teenager “get it” and that there was some great music. Having Snoop Dogg play the voice of one of the snails might have concerned me in the beginning, but since I didn’t know until after the movie, I didn’t really notice. I didn’t find anything inappropriate for any age group throughout the movie.
This is a movie that we will watch over and over and can’t wait to own it! I found a few fun things around the internet that are TURBO related, so have fun!
