Bringing the Outdoors In {Mommy-Son camping trip}
The boy and I decided this week that we were going to be bringing the outdoors in for this sponsored post. We made a tent and “camped out” in his bedroom. We set the scene with the Limited Edition Air Wick National Parks Collection.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Air Wick. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
Can you believe my boy has never been camping? By the time I was his age, I had probably camped in a dozen places. I fail at introducing my boy to the outdoors. This Summer I’m planning to keep my boy out and about as much as possible because he is starting Kindergarten in August. I want him to have as much fun as he possibly can before he has to start learning.
We signed him up for Summer Camp at the YMCA so he is swimming and going on field trips. He is being active and skipping nap time for games and rock wall climbing. Next week we are signing up for Vacation Bible School so he can learn more about the bible, as well as how to join in on a group program at the end of the week.
You know what else my boy has never done? He’s never made a tent out of blankets and camped indoors!
Bringing the Outdoors In {make a blanket tent inside}
This past week we had a new adventure in our Summer o’ Fun and made a blanket tent in my boy’s room! Funny thing is this might have been the first time that I made a tent inside as well. We have a fabric tent that used to be in his play room, but I wanted to teach my boy how to be creative. We used a corner of his race car bed, his old crib that hasn’t moved from his room yet, and a rocking chair to help hold up the blanket. We had a large hole in the top of our “tent” but we decided that was for watching the star (or in this room, the birds).
Bringing the Outdoors In {go to the Grand Canyon}
Air Wick sent us some samples of their Limited Edition National Forest Scented Oils and we tested out the Grand Canyon scent for our camping trip. I have mentioned before that I have a lot of allergies and scents like pine or some flowery scents really can irritate my (and unfortunately, my boy’s) allergies. We played for quite a while in our tent and neither of us sneezed so I have to give this scent a nose up.
Bringing the Outdoors In {a retreat to the Island}
Just as an aside, Hubby and I enjoyed bringing the outdoors in later that night when our boy fell asleep in the Grand Canyon as we went to the Ofu Island with the Air Wick Scented Candle in American Samoa scent. We lit the candle and enjoyed a late night picnic in our room. It is likely the closest we will get to an actual island vacation for many, many years.
Bringing the Outdoors In {hide from the bears!}
As the boy and I were camping out and talking about what we would do on our trip, we kept hearing strange noises. We didn’t think anything of it at first, but then we heard growling. We have two dogs who really wanted to be camping with us, but we left them outside the bedroom, so growling wasn’t unusual. But then it got louder…and closer… I turned on the video camera because who knows what you find in the “woods”…
Were ya scared?!
Bringing the Outdoors In {pick your destination}
If you already love the Air Wick scented oils, now you can pick a destination and bring the outdoors in. Air Wick has also extended their National Parks collection to the scented candles, reed diffusers, and Freshmatic sprays!
The National Parks limited edition collection was crafted by fragrance experts who spend countless hours creating the perfect harmony of fragrance notes representative of the natural elements found in these national parks and pays homage to the brands The Craft of Fragrance creative platform.
I’m a sucker for anything coconut scented – I’d love to try the America Samoa!
