That Crazy Man I Love {and Mommy is sick…still}
You hear it all the time. When Mommy is Sick, the whole family suffers. Schedules fall apart, laundry piles up, kids go to school in dirty underwear…
That is not my household.
I have been sick for two weeks. You saw my MRSA infection (staph infection) story, right? I have been a mess for a while now and I can’t get anything done. You may or may not have noticed that I stopped blogging for a while. You probably thought I was just being lazy…
Let me just tell you that my husband has stepped up to the plate like nothing I have ever experienced.
First, I should just remind you all that I don’t do much around my house. Hubby cooks, cleans (about 90% of the cleaning), and does the laundry (about 90% of the time). I am mainly responsible for…umm…our boy. I bathe him, play with him, and am the one who can put him to sleep (90% of the time). I do other things…but I just can’t think what they are right now. I do…I think…
For the past two weeks, Hubby has done it all. He has experienced some super fun Daddy-Son bonding and it has been fun to watch. As we would settle in for an evening and watch a TV show together, I would crash out and those two would talk, tell stories, giggle, and then cuddle and fall asleep. My boy is usually all about Mommy and sitting in my lap, but he knew I wasn’t feeling well so he was all about daddy. I secretly think Hubby has been loving it.
Last night, I was feeling a little better and Hubby was just plain exhausted. I cuddled up with the boy and we started whispering and telling stories. Hubby just crashed out and it was so nice to see him resting. I love that man so much.
Why I Love My Husband {and Mommy is Sick…still!}
Now for more of my never-ending list…
46. He knows when I am sick. Sometimes I have to give him a hint with a bottle of NyQuil, but when I do he gets it.
47. He loves to spend time with our boy. This may seem like a natural thing, but to hear them together you just know they are having the time of their lives.
48. He does 98% of the work around the house. I’m a mess, although I don’t make the mess, but anyway, I need to take housekeeping 101.
49. He dealt with my illness with a smile on his face…and still is…
50. He was (somewhat) patient with me when I didn’t post Why I Love My Husband for two weeks in a row. Not really, he’s been bugging me about it, but I know he is kidding. He really enjoys reading them so he has been anxiously waiting.
I’m building this never-ending list every Thursday (even though they moved the linky to Monday) with the Happy Wives Club. Sometimes, it will be mushy and sometimes it will be hilarious, but it will always be true.
Janet, I just love reading your list! And what an awesome husband you have!! Every time I hop over here and read another story about him, I think, “What’s she going so crazy about?! Her husband rocks!!”

Hi, Janet! This is my first time to your blog, so I’m catching up on all the MRSA and “mommy is sick” stuff. I’m so sorry you’ve been battling that but it sounds as if you have a wonderful husband to help pick up the slack when you’re feeling bad. I usually don’t let my hubby take care of me when I’m sick. I know that sounds crazy, but I struggle with being fiercely independent and self-sufficient. I just suffer through it most of the time. It’s great to see you relying so seamlessly on your hubby and him on you. Thanks for this encouraging peek into your marriage. It reminds me to let my hubby in to do more for me when I’m not feeling well.
You definitely are very blessed to have the husband that you do. Hope you are well soon!
