Big Dog, Little Dog – Finding the Best Dog Food @CesarCuisine
I talk a lot about my family on my blog, mostly my "boys" and their silly shenanigans, but I tend to forget to talk more about the girls in our family – Molly and Abby. Our dogs, big and small, are the most loving creatures and they do funny things all the time. I'm always trying to think of a way to make them feel special because we are always on the go. By finding the best dog food I can for them, they will stay healthy and be a part of our family for many years to come!
Molly is our big dog. She is the most gentle giant I know. She has been a loving dog from the day we rescued her. She was starving and we could see her bones. We had a thirty minute drive home and she laid her head on our boy's lap and loved him. When we got home, we gave her a bowl of hot dogs and the boy wanted some too. He sat next to her as they ate and when Molly was done with hers she went to his bowl. He told her "no" and reached into the bowl. Hubby and I gasped as we thought she would snap at him (she was so hungry!) but she just backed off and laid down next to him. We knew then that we had rescued the perfect dog for us.
We have found that the best dog food for her is dry food because she likes the crunch and it is good for her teeth. We get indoor dog food and something to keep her fit. She likes to go outside every chance she gets and she will just run laps in the backyard. She is still a little clumsy around the boy and gets excited and might knock him over, but she will protect that boy with all of her might!
Abby is our baby pug. She is a true NUT!! She is crazy and hyper and will clean the inside of your skull through your nose if you will let her!! We love her so, so much, but she is a lot to handle. We adopted Abby from a former breeder who had decided that she could no longer breed Pugs. She had kept Abby from the last litter because she was a runt and didn't expect her to live. After she kept her alive and got her healthy, she decided that Abby needed a home with a child who could love her. We lost our Pug, Pepper, just after our boy was born and I knew I wanted another Pug, but I wasn't sure if I could handle the heartache of remembering her. When I met Abby, I was sure that she was meant to be in our home.
Because Abby was a runt and still needed to be treated special when we got her, we had to find the perfect food for small dogs that would help her continue to be healthy and help her grow. We tend to mix dry food and wet food together so that she gets the crunch, like Molly, but the softness that she loves. She is also stubborn on house training and doesn't enjoy the outdoors as much as Molly so we don't want to go completely to wet food.
We have found that Abby is in love with the New CESAR® Meaty Selects. We do have to separate the dogs when we feed them, but it doesn't take long for Abby to gobble up her dinner now that she is eating the Filet Mignon meal. Since we mix the wet and dry food, it is very helpful that Cesar has made the meaty selects in a resealable can that we can just stick in the fridge for the next day – and our fridge doesn't smell like food for dogs.
- New CESAR® Meaty Selects come in a resealable 10-ounce can bursting with tender meaty chunks.
- Meaty Selects can be served alone or as a delicious compliment to your dog's favorite dry food.
Cesar would like to give you the following tips on changing your dog's food. When transitioning from one food to another, please remember to introduce the new food gradually so as not to upset your dog's stomach.
- For the first two days or so, your dog's meals should be about 75% old food and 25% new food. Mix the two foods together, don't keep them separated.
- If the first couple of days of the transition go smoothly, you can mix 50% of your dog's old food with 50% of the new food on days 3 and 4.
- On days 5 and 6, your dog's meals should be about 75% new food and only 25% of the old food.
- On day 7, let your dog enjoy 100% of the new Cesar dog food!
What flavor of CESAR® Meaty Selects would your dog love? Tell me about your loved ones!!
