National Beheading Day: Off with their heads!! {and other strange holidays}
National Beheading Day
Why in the world would we have a "holiday" called National Beheading Day?!! When I think of beheading, I think of the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. Of the many versions of Alice in Wonderland, this Red Queen is my absolute favorite (although I can't say that the movie was my favorite version, it was good).
Off with their heads!!
I've done a little quick research to see if I could find the origin of National Beheading Day…and apparently it's "real" but not "officially recognized". How do you even celebrate a day like this?!! I found this article about Famous Beheadings that was quite interesting and describes that beheadings were a "beheadings were gruesome forms of execution used for centuries and were often performed in public via guillotine, axe, sword or knife".
Crazy holidays!!
I love scouring the internet for crazy holidays, but I have to say that I'm at a loss for words, images, thoughts, ummm…anything, really, to talk about National Beheading Day. I guess my head is just not "attached" on this one.
I love crazy holidays too – that may be the craziest though! I’ll have to remember it for next year – do you think hallmark sells cards for National Beheading Day?
