Spin Into Action for children’s oral care {SIMPLE Service Project}
Spin Into Action with the Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service Project #SpinbrushCFK
We are revving up for another Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service Project and this time we are going to Spin Into Action for children’s oral care with the Arm & Hammer Spinbrush!
The Boy had so much fun with the recent Elmer’s #BagItForward SIMPLE Service Project that we participated in that I thought I would surprise him and participate in the Spin Into Action #SpinbrushCFK Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service Project. I know he is going to love this!
Spin Into Action: The importance of oral care
I visited the Champions for Kids website for some details on the #SpinbrushCFK program.
Did you know:
Over 19% of children ages 2-19 have untreated cavities. A child’s complete preventive dental program should include fluoride, at least twice-daily brushing, wise food choices, and regular dental care.
Tooth decay remains one of the most common diseases of childhood. Children living in poverty suffer twice as much tooth decay as their more affluent peers, and their disease is more likely to go untreated.
The daily reality for children with untreated oral disease is often persistent pain, inability to eat comfortably or chew well, embarrassment at discolored and damaged teeth, and distraction from play and learning.
Shopping for #SpinbrushCFK
I took a rare opportunity to go shopping alone to kickstart our oral care drive. I knew I wanted to pick up a couple of Spinbrush toothbrushes and had a few other personal care items to pick up as well. Since I was going to be alone, I figured I could take my time to look at what toothbrushes were available.
Look at this fun Spinbrush from Arm & Hammer called My Way! Children can design their own with over 100 stickers inside. This would be great for large families of children because each child can make their own unique toothbrush!
You can’t go wrong with characters like Star Wars and Captain America, but after consulting with Daddy and The Boy via text, we decided on Spiderman. I picked up two of the My Way! toothbrushes as well and we are ready to start planning our Spin Into Action oral care drive.
You can see how I am getting my family started with the SIMPLE Service Project in my Spin Into Action Google Album.

Rainbow Room: Helping those in need
The Rainbow Room is an emergency resource center available to CPS caseworkers to help them meet the critical needs of abused and neglected children. To find out more about Rainbow Rooms in Texas, visit Greater Texas Community Partners.
For this month’s SIMPLE Service Project, I am calling my coworkers into action to donate oral care items to the Rainbow Room. In the next couple of weeks I will be encouraging my coworkers to think about this project as they are shopping for Back to School items or personal care items for their own families. As we are shopping, let’s think about “Buy 2, Give 1”.
