Wake up, Wake up, WAKE UP!!

I spend my entire day telling myself to wake up, but sometimes it doesn't actually happen until I get home, in my jammies, and ready for an evening of blogging. The only thing that keeps me going through the day are my multiple sources of caffeine – soda, coffee, and tea…well, and my very active 4 year old!!

There's a little bit of a back story to why I'm talking about coffee. You see a bloggy friend of mine, Ghada at Mama Goes BAM, tagged me in a coffee post because she was tagged by Lena (@elenka29) from Way 2 Good Life when she wrote about running on coffee because she was tagged by Janice (@fitcheerldr) who got the idea from Leah(@bookieboo) over at Mamavation who made a pictorial ode to bloggers who drink coffee. Got it?!!

Okay, so here goes:

My family only has one vehicle so when Hubby has to be at work at 6am…we all have to be up at 5:30am. Here I am in the Jeep, in my jammies, waiting for Hubby to get out of the car (he takes his time) and go to work, so I can go back to bed.

Waking up

(OMG…I canNOT believe I am posting this!!)

Now…after I head home and cuddle with my boy a little, I take a shower and get ready for my day. We look a little like this…

Awake and showeredThe Boy playing guitar

After getting us ready to go, here are my two choices to start the day. It depends on my mood, but one of these is my first priority of the day!!

coffeeSonic Diet Coke

After a few sips and getting back on the road, I start to perk up just a bit.

Give me an International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee and I'm set for the day!!

I'm starting to wake up

And then, it happens…the caffeine kicks in!!

Now, I just dare the road hypnosis to kick in!!

You know me and how I hate rules and I'm supposed to tag 5 of my bloggy buds to read their coffee stories, but I couldn't narrow it down, so I'm tagging 6!!

Check them out!!

Lisa at Planet Weidknecht – my Partner in Crime for some awesome blogging events. She's in her own little world, but she lets the crazy visit sometimes!!

Greta at How's Your Day – I learn all the snazzy "cool kid" lingo from her!! Her site is totally SFW and look at this YUMMY feature!!

Tag, you're it!!

  1. Kris says:

I can’t drink caffeine due to migraines, so I have to try and stay awake other ways (and with fibro, it isn’t easy). You guys who can use caffeine are lucky!

  2. mary ortiz says:

I think we all tend to share ideas on how we start the day and what works for us. It may not always work for others but we like the idea that it might help another to know their day isn’t perfect either!

  3. Megan says:

I would die if I had to get up that early every day – I used to be a morning person, but I don’t know what happened to me!

  4. Wendi Scharrer says:

I start my day with coffee! It saves lives! πŸ™‚

  5. Amy Orvin says:

Caffeine always works for me too.

  6. Kathy Ross says:

I drink an ice water first thing. Then some soda while the coffee is brewing. Then coffee. Then soda. Then water the rest of the day. The caffeine doesn’t help me stay awake though. Sometimes it makes me even more tired.

  7. Jessica says:

I could sleep all day if I had the choice. I’m a total night owl.

  8. No way am I a morning person. I do love my coffee and soda through out the day.

  9. CATHY TRUMAN says:

I have to have my Starbucks every morning. It
makes my day so much better. Loved your story

  10. Pamela Roundy says:

I’m starting to believe I’m nocturnal. It’s so hard to get going in the morning and yet so hard to go to sleep at night. I feel your pain.

  11. Lou Glover says:

  12. Joshua Lanham says:

I used to rely on sweet tea daily to help wake me up. I actually take a supplement called ACE and cut back on the need for caffeine and feel more alert and awake every morning (up at 4:30AM!)

  13. Jennifer Lusher says:

I never really tried the cold coffee drinks but I love my coffee and diet rite!!

  14. Sharon says:

Pretty brave you are!!! lol – I love my morning cup of coffee too!

  15. april yedinak says:

I feel you! I am a super caffeine junkie! I can not kick the habit for good and at this point I have decided to embrace my addiction, lol!

  16. manda says:

hahaha…. this is so me too. I can’t even function until I’ve had what is the equivalent of a pot of coffee in one cup. I feel for you though, there is nothing in the world that would wake me up at 5:30 in the morning. EEP.

    • janet says:

You know, being up at 5:30 is not so bad if I didn’t have to wake my child and leave the house. If we could return home and just go back to sleep…I would be just fine…but that NEVER happens!!

  17. Because of you two things have happened. First, I just took a picture of myself at 6 am – something that would never normally happen! Second, I smiled at 6 am – something which also does not normally happen. Thanks for the compliment and the tag. The last two days have been filled with power outages and a sick child, so I needed the smile!

    • janet says:

Hugs to you, Cyndy!!! I’m so happy I could make you smile!!! <3

  18. Drew says:

I almost have the same reaction to caffeine like you do. However, you have to throw in moving around aimlessly for at least 15 minutes to the mix.

  19. I love it, LOL!
I could totally go for a nice frappe right now, too…even though it’s almost midnight now, LOL!

    • janet says:

A frappe at midnight would totally get my blog caught up!!!

  20. Gena says:

Gotta LOVE coffee and gotta love you and all these awesome bloggers! Kudos to you for posting morning pictures! πŸ˜€

    • janet says:

I’m still not exactly sure why I did that first one. I must have been on the side of “gone” crazy…

  21. I will NEVER be a morning person but do have to say, if I have to get up early then an ice cold diet pepsi needs to be in my hand.

    • janet says:

Ice, Ice, Ice cold…gets me moving!!

  22. I can tell you are not a morning person! I don’t drink coffee but I love my iced capps (from Tim Hortons) and those keep me going throughout the day. I’m on my second one already….

    • janet says:

Sometimes I like the iced capp, but mostly the soda…until I started blogging and coffee is needed after a late night…

  23. What is that from Sonic? It looks SO good!

    • janet says:

The soda is from Sonic, but the other is from a small coffee shop in town, called a Jamochacchino…

  24. Kecia says:

I’m not a coffee drinker – in fact we don’t buy caffeine at all…which would probably explain why I sometimes feel like a zombie! πŸ™‚

    • janet says:

I wish we could be like that.. My husband drink up to three 2-liter bottles of soda per day!! I don’t drink THAT much, but I can’t get going without caffeine.

  25. I love your morning coffee story. Gosh, I used to be a morning person, but not anymore…that’s an early start!

    • janet says:

I have never been a morning person and I am a baby when my husband has to wake me up in the morning. I will whine, ask for 5 more minutes, and even get mad at him. :/

  26. I gave up caffeine when I got pregnant and oh, how I miss my morning coffee. πŸ™‚ You are so brave to post the first pic of the day. You don’t even want to see me when I get out of bed. Especially without coffee for 9 months! LOL! Thanks for sharing, that was a fun post.

    • janet says:

Thanks, I’m still a little shocked that I posted that first pic. I remember that pregnancy time when I couldn’t have caffeine, not good.. I allowed myself one caffeine drink per day and it was usually watered down iced sweet tea.

  27. Headant says:

For some reason, I wake up at the crack of dawn. Both of those have helped me out!

    • janet says:

I just can’t do it…even when I do go to bed at an early time!

      • You know how they say moms need to take time for themselves? That’s when I get “me” time–when I’m half asleep!
