Once May hits, my family starts planning for the start of grilling and cookout season. We're always looking for some fun recipes and outdoor activities from my favorite bloggers, so we thought we'd share some yummy prizes with you, too!!

    I make them healthy by using fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch more often than not. :)

  3. Cooking meals with my kids is always fun. Because my oldest is allergic to so many foods, we became label readers and our own recipe tweekers. Doing so has made our meals healthier.

    I make sure to add lots of healthy ingredients to a normal recipe (for example, pureed carrots to spaghetti sauce), so I can have healthy foods all throughout the meal.

    I put as many colors and shapes on the plate as my kids will eat. One of my (and the kids’) favorites was colored cauliflower!

    I give them pretzels and the get to fish for raisins and small pies of apricots and other fund stuff by dipping the end in peanut butter to help the food item they are fishing for to stick they love it

    I’ve never had a problem with my kids not liking “healthy” food. I keep a snack tray in the refrigerator with my daughter’s name on it with all sliced veggies and fruit just for her. She gets them whenever she wants.

  21. Making meals fun is the easy part! …cooking pizzas in the wood stove in winter, foods from around the world for holidays, I love to think of fun things to do with food. Making it healthy is not as easy.

    I make them healthy be sneaking in as many healthy ingredients as I can… That usually means adding in extra veggies to sauces.

    I get the kids eat their fruit by cutting it in weird shapes. An example would by making melon balls! Thank you!

  33. We try every trick in the book to get our kids to eat. Some work, some don’t. When we hype up the food, they get excited, even though they have no idea what they are getting into. Just our excitement gets them interested.

    When my children were young, I would make special pancakes. For holidays, I would color the batter and pour special shapes – eggs, rabbits, shamrocks, snowmen, etc. It was fun to do and fun to eat. Try it, it isn’t too hard.

  41. I try to always incorporate a fruit or veggie. I also tend to cut things up fun or put them on cute plates for the kids to make them more appealing.

    I like to include the kids as much as possible in meal preparation. The rule is that they must choose one veggie each and help make it.
