Now onto the interview!
Each week at the Newbie Blog Hop, we choose a Featured Newbie to interview and get to know a little better. From the blogs that linked up in last week's hop, we randomly picked a blogger and the chosen one is
Kat from Been There Done That with Kat!
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
Do you have more than one blog? If so, tell me about them.
I only have one blog. I am still learning all the blogging techniques, so it is enough to handle right now for me.
How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging a week or so before Christmas 2011.
Why did you start blogging? Is this why you continue blogging?
I started basically because over Christmas, I was searching around for various sweepstakes to enter and came across many blogging sites. I thought to myself, this could be a way for me to advocate on issues I am so passionate about. I would like to continue to have an advocate blog, yes!
Who does your blog appeal to? Is this who you thought would be your target audience?
My blog focus is on more women issues, per say, but as I go, I would like to add the male perspective on domestic violence because they can be victims as well, and the male perspective on child loss. I assume though that my main audience will stay mostly women and that was my intended target focus.
What direction do you see your blog going in the future?
I have been thinking about adding advocacy for mental health awareness and suicide awareness. These issues tend to go hand in hand with some of the other issues I advocate for. I also would like to get into the product review aspect, giveaway aspect and financial aspect. I do not want my blog to be a depressing place so I want to mix it up a bit.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?
The biggest challenge has been learning all the computer blog functions, finding the right wording and proper grammar.
What do you love about blogging?
Blogging has given me a voice for all the issues near and dear to me and I have met many wonderful people since starting.
What do you NOT love about blogging?
It is time consuming and confusing at times.
What types of product reviews and giveaways do you feature?
At the moment, I haven't done any product reviews. I am working on that aspect and probably will start with my first one this weekend. I have participated in sweepstake's with other bloggers and sponsored one of my own to help launch my blog.
What advice do you have for those wanting to get into this or up the value of their giveaways?
I advise to network with other bloggers, join blog groups and ask questions as you go. I also would advise to get your blog name out there on all the social network sites you can.
Besides your blog, how else can people find you? Which method is your favorite/least favorite?
Share your top 3 favorite posts from your blog.
Share your top 3 favorite blogs to read and why.
I can not just pick three blogs it would not be fair to all the bloggers that have helped me as I go, but I can tell you this, It is the bloggers in this group (Newbie Blog Hop Facebook Group) that I am partial to.
Do you have any bloggers that you consider to be mentors?
Everyone in the Newbie blog group.
Do you have a weekly, daily, or monthly Blog Hop or Meme that people should join in? Tell me about it and share an info link.
I have no idea what this is yet but I will find out.
How do you find time to blog?
I blog early morning and dare I say?..(lol)..Down time at work…
What else would you like us to know?
This group of bloggers has been very supportive and inspiring to me as well as patient and kind with any questions I may have. I have been blessed to have met you all online. Thank You!
You are so sweet, Kat! We are so happy to have helped you with all the questions you've had. This is exactly what was envisioned this group to be — members guide each other and grow together.
