Thank you to Life’s Cheap Thrills for preparing today’s interview!!

Here at the Newbie Blog Hop, we choose a featured blogger each week from the previous week’s linky for us to be familiar with everybody.

We are happy to announce that from blogs linked up in Week 12, Ericka Todd, the owner of Saving While Making Money, has been chosen as the featured newbie blogger of the week!

Now, let’s get to know more about Ericka and how blogging has been treating her.

Get ready to be inspired!!

Saving While Making Money

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.

I grew up in Memphis, Tn. I was transferred by my company to Nashville, Tn when I was 20. I moved to Cape Cod about 2 years ago in response to my getting Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. I needed no reminders of my past. I love cats and currently have 5. They’re all save/rescue. I’m a strong believer in adopting from shelters or saving strays. I’m also a big believer in spaying or neutering your pet. Both my parents are deceased. One of my sisters passed away this year. My other sister lives in Israel. She’s been here over 30 years. I miss her and wish I could see her.

Do you have more than one blog? If so, tell me about them!

I only have one blog.

How long have you been blogging?

I started blogging in October 2011. Of course, before that I did a lot of research.

Why did you start blogging? Is this also why you continue blogging?

Before I went on disability, I gave a lot to different charities. Now I can’t afford to. I still wanted to give back though. My blog gives me a vehicle to do that.

What direction do you see your blog going in the future?

Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to do some reviews and giveaways. I’ve won so many wonderful things that have really raised my standard/quality of living. That would be another way to give back.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far with your blog?

My biggest challenge so far has been the mechanics of WordPress and actually getting my blog put up. I really had no idea what I was doing so it took me forever to figure out how and what I needed to do. I still haven’t figured out a lot of things, but I will.

What do you love about blogging?

The thing I love most about blogging is the hope that someone will learn something from my blog or be able to give back because of my blog.

What do you NOT love about blogging?

The thing I hate the most about blogging is redoing posts. I’ve redone my about me page 3 times and still don’t like it. I hate wasting time.

Besides your blog, how else can people find you?

Share your top 3 favorite posts from your blog.

My favorite posts from my blog are all the areas of my menu item
named Pay It Forward. I really believe we all should try and do something extra. If everyone does just a little, it will really add up in time.

Share your top 3 favorite blogs to read and why.

My top 3 blogs I follow are Addicted To Saving because she has so many deals. I want to know how she finds the time to do all she does. She also mails coupons to our service personnel overseas. She gets over 150 envelopes a month that she sorts and mails out.

My next favorite is Budget Savvy Kitty. I love Watson, the cat host. He is on other blogs too which I follow. I spend more on my cat’s food and litter in a month, then I do my own food and necessities so I need help with finding the best deals.

My last favorite blog is Couponing To Disney. She does a series on finding Mickey (Mickey Mouse) in unexpected places. That makes me smile and I need to smile. I find
myself finding Mickey in unexpected places now too. She also has great articles about saving money.

What is your best advice for a Newbie Blogger?

My best advice to a Newbie blogger is try to find a person or blog that will help you. I spent hours trying to learn how to do menus and then asked Chic n Savvy Reviews how. She had posted saying if you had a question ask, so I did. In about 5 minutes I knew exactly how to do it. There are a lot of blogs out there with a how to that are really
great. Remember why you wanted to start blogging and keep at it.

Life’s Cheap Thrills is not in any way related to Ericka (by blog-gy blood, maybe yes), but I feel really proud of her for rising above all those shortcomings! Truly inspiring!

In other news, we still have a few hours left to link up on Newbie Blog Hop Week 13. Remember that this hop opens every Tuesday at 9PM CST and closes at midnight every Friday. Come back on Tuesday if you are new to blogging so you can link up and

I love your site! The featured blogger this week was very interesting. I loved reading about her.

About the tutorials coming up, i would love to know how to make my posts automatically go right to FB and Twitter. Also, how to write up a weekly (or do you send one daily?) newsletter. Do you just copy and post links and sales, etc into an email?

    Thank you,
    Jody C
